About Me

I'm a transplant to Southern California, originally from Ohio.I play bass. I do not enjoy bass fishing. If I did, I'd always catch & release. But I don't anyway.I have a great singing voice...when I'm by myself in the car, of course.I have a dog who loves cats.I have a knack for always finding the slowest checkout lane at the grocery store. It's a talent that only a few of us on the planet possess. Just lucky, I guess.I work for an NPR station in San Bernardino, hosting the morning drive and reporting on the riveting Inland news scene. I talk a lot. And get paid for it. Yeah, it's pretty cool. - - - - -

My Interests

Travel...so far I've been to Italy (twice), Germany, England, Ireland, Peru and Canada. Much more to come, I hope! Reading - my passion since I was five. Music - both listening to it, and creating it.Here is someone's slide show that I "borrowed" from YouTube - I love Will Ferrell's "Goulet!" 'Bye Mr. G!

I'd like to meet:

People who are like me...or not. People who like me...or ------ well, I hope to meet people who like me. Maybe Nancy Pelosi....or, better yet, this guy.........Oh, for Pete's sake.....
Your Personality Is Like Acid
A bit wacky, you're very difficult to predict.
One moment you're in your own little happy universe...
And the next, you're on a bad trip to your own personal hell!

At your best: You understand the world completely, and every ordinary experience is sublime.

What people like about being around you: You say and do the craziest things. You're very entertaining.

What people dislike about being around you: You're unpredictable. Your mood swings are quite intense.

How addicted people get to you: They pretty much don't get addicted to you. What Drug Is Your Personality Like?
You Are 40% Weird
Normal enough to know that you're weird...
But too damn weird to do anything about it! How Weird Are You?

Music:

The Beatles, of course! My tastes run from Wilco and Beth Orton to Air and the Chemical Brothers...Weezer...Zeppelin...Beck. I could list a few hundred bands here, actually! I won't really do that, but let me add a few, in no particular order: Marvin Gaye, Kasabian, Belle and Sebastian, Bob Marley, Boards of Canada, Ladytron, Stereolab, Sigur Ros, Tori Amos, Slade, Al Green, Dwight Yoakam, Radiohead, the Warlocks, Stone Roses, Aretha Franklin, Chase Frank, the Flaming Lips, Spoon, Groove Armada, Blur, Robbie Reverb, Phoenix, Boston, Helio Sequence, M83, Garbage, the White Stripes, AC/DC, Sondre Lerche, Guided By Voices (hometown anti-heroes, where I come from...they never got the Dayton love they deserved!).

Movies:

All-time favorite: This Is Spinal Tap!! Pan's Labyrinth; The Lord of the Rings movies; Star Wars (except maybe Return of the Jedi -- sorry, Ewoks!); Strictly Ballroom; The Princess Bride; Lost in Translation; Best in Show (well, let's just say all Christopher Guest-directed movies); Kill Bill (1 and 2!); Legally Blonde (1 NOT 2!); Bowling for Columbine; Super Size Me. Enter the Dragon; CQ; Half Baked; Beauty and the Beast; Shaun of the Dead.

Television:

The Simpsons. Scrubs. Family Guy. Colbert Report. Daily Show. Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. Star Trek TNG. Globe Trekker. Nova. Doctor Who. Flight of the Conchords. Lucy, Daughter of the Devil. Robot Chicken. 30 Rock. The Office.

Books:

The Phantom Tollbooth; The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny; Stranger in a Strange Land (and others by Heinlein); The Robots of Dawn (and anything else) by Isaac Asimov; Naked in Baghdad by Anne Garrels; Fast Food Nation and Reefer Madness, both by Eric Schlosser; Rule by Secrecy by Jim Marrs; I, Claudius; A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson; Out of the Silent Planet (and other C.S. Lewis); A Wrinkle in Time (and others) by Madeleine L'Engle; The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit; Vedanta: Voice of Freedom by S. Vivekananda; Our Endangered Values by Jimmy Carter; Angels & Demons by Dan Brown; Being Peace from Thich Nhat Hanh. I'm working my way through as many Philip K. Dick books as I can get my hands on.

Heroes:

Kent Brockman; Rosanne Rosannadanna; Barbara Wa-Wa; the guys on KBBL.
