Gospel Recording Artist presents new CD Foretaste

About Me

"It has always been gospel music. It will always be gospel music… I will sing gospel for the rest of my life." Those words simply state the plan and purpose for gospel artist Mona Moore. They describe where she has been, where she is, and where she is going. Throughout her youth, Mona sang with various gospel choirs, including Willie Thornton and the Sanctuary Choir and Outreach Baptist Church Choir, under the leadership of Shirley Joiner. These experiences would blossom into a love for gospel music that allows Mona Moore to decisively declare that she has no intention of departing from her roots.Seems fitting that Mona’s recording career was launched with her hit single, "Trouble," in June 1999. Though she had grown up singing gospel, Mona admits that there were trying times in her life that blurred her focus on her music ministry. "Trouble" was an immediate chart topper when it debuted on local stations and continues to be a favorite on gospel radio. Her first album, You’re Not Forgotten, was released in August of 1999, providing Mona with numerous opportunities for live performances as a solo artist and a chance for new fans to finally put a face to her music.Mona’s sophomore album, Unéklee Spok’n, showcased her versatility as an artist and the beauty of versatility in the gospel genre. From the up-tempo cut "Get Ready" to the jazzy stylings of "More Than a Conqueror", Mona demonstrated the diversity of her vocal range, while maintaining integrity in her inspirational message. Mona has shared the stage with gospel Artists such as; Lee Williams & The Spiritual QCs, Kim Burrell, Luther Barnes, Marvin Sapp, Trinitee 5:7, and Dorothy Norwood. Mona’s music ministry expanded internationally in 2002 with a tour to Canada, an eight day mission in the Czech Republic, and a two month European tour consisting of venues in London, Paris, Switzerland, Hungary, Germany and other cities. As an extension of her musical gifts, Mona has also written and produced theatrical presentations, which incorporate drama, music, and dance. Her multiplicity of gifts and her devotion to her ministry were featured in a cover story entitled "Up Close and Personal with International Gospel Recording Artist Mona Moore" for Elite Professionals Magazine in 2003. In the article, Mona shared a personal word about the path she has chosen: "My motto is you see the glory, but you do not know the story. I would tell anyone with the desire to get into the field of music ministry that it’s not at all what it seems like on the outside looking in. You must be dedicated, you have to be committed, and last but not least, you must truly love the Lord."Even though she has already ministered musically on both local and international stages, with the newest artists and with some of the most well known names in gospel music today, Mona still believes the best is yet to come. Her latest project, Foretaste, is due to be released in January 2005. She offers this album back to God for his faithfulness in developing her as an artist and for truly defining the purpose for her music. Mona touches the heart of every Christian with true testimony on "You Don’t Know Like I Know" and "Been There, Done That" and invites listeners to join her in true worship with "You Deserve the Glory". Foretaste is designed to live up to its name: a prelude of what is to come from God’s divine plan for those who believe in Him. And Mona is indeed a believer.

Influences: I can remember at an early age getting ready for church on a Sunday morning listening to artist on the radio such as Tramaine Hawkins, the Clark Sisters, and Vanessa Bell Armstrong. It would do something down on the inside. At that time I had no idea that it was the Holy Spirit. What an Influence. I knew then that I wanted to sing Gospel music. Oh and my mother, who would pray throughout the house and sing those old 100’s (Hymns); No one can sing them like she can. I love you mom!
