Liverpool Music Week Show-Bumper 11pm 5/11/08!

About Me

"Watching a live 28 Costumes show is a bit like witnessing a tornado ripping through London. A feverish determination to smash everything in their wake and leave the audience slightly unhinged" Who's Jack Sept 2008

" The three minutes and 10 seconds feel huge. A big thumbs up here" ARTROCKER

"A passionate energetic belter of a guitar song, with a beat seemingly designed to fill up an indie dancefloor at a moment's notice" MUSIC OMH
"A piece of epic guitar work" CLICK MUSIC

"28 Costumes must be on the verge of something really big if these two brilliant songs are anything to go by" TOXIC PETE
28 Costumes are 3 fellas and a girl from Liverpool, U.K.
We play animated and passionated and illuminated songs that are often pretty honest and straight up pop-songs that can very often stir up something special inside your little heart..
If you’re looking at this for the first time and you’ve just discovered 28 Costumes, welcome! Well done, in fact! Allow us to tell you, in a nutshell, about what we’ve been doing with ourselves since we decided to be a band, way back in 2003. You’ve missed quite alot, y’see. We released our first Album in 2004. It was called the Fake Death Experience after a club night that we used to run in Liverpool, which is where we come from too. When the album was released, a load of really smart things got said about it and written about it. You can see a few of these things below.
We’ve played over 400 shows. Some of them have been the weirdest shows ever known to exist in the history of live music. We’ve played in a Vine-yard at a German street party, in secret magical woods, in too many basements and backrooms of sweaty pubs to mention but we also did a freakin’ stadium tour of Germany and countless festivals throughout the U.K. and Europe. We went to SXSW in Texas last year and ended up on the Jay Leno show with Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips. Strange things happen to 28 Costumes, strange and brilliant things. We also have some of the best fans that ever existed. In 2007, we embarked on a huge tour of Germany that was entirely funded by people that love 28 Costumes because we couldn’t afford to do it on our own. That’s amazing isn’t it! We’ve played shows with some amazing bands too, alot of bands we like! Some of the names you’ll recognise - Maximo Park, Bloc Party, Editors, Badly Drawn Boy, The Futureheads, The Black Keys, Lethal Bizzle, Hot Club de Paris, Voo, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Camera Obscura...
We’ve been on the radio and the telly-box a bit, too! We’ve done live sessions on ..BBC Radio2 and been played and supported on Radio 1 by Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens, on XFM by John Kennedy and Adam and Joe, Radio2 by Janice Long, BBC6Music by Tom Robinson and on numerous stations in Germany and Ireland too and we’ve been on telly in Japan (??!!) and Ireland and Germay..
We released The Fake Death Experience album and the singles 21 Years, Hurricane, Cash advance, Inside/Outside and You Excite Me through Spank Records and last year we released an EP called Electrical Fever which came out through Invicta Hi-Fi records.
We’ve been locked away now for a couple of months writing and recording our next record and we’re about to unleash our strongest and most accomplished material to date, with a big-ass tour to boot! It took us 3 weeks just to clean up the van and get rid of the evil that was lingering inside it.
28 Costumes are very much in this for the long haul and us and you lot are going to have some good times together, so grab your coat and buckle-up bonzo – we’re going for a ride!
"28 Costumes have no problem in this respect delivering a set of absolutely fantastic songs that have jaws dropping all over the place. Tracks such as Apologies and Electrical Fever are true sing-along classics but there is more here then meets the eye" GIGWISE
"The new songs are fiendishly complex with a dash of The Killer's swagger" VENUE
"The complete and utter burst of guitar-disco anthem and recent single 'Electrical Fever' is total evidence that 28 Costumes time is yet to come" TWIST & SHOUT
Fake Death Experience Album Reviews:

"A torrent of Pixies-esque guitar belligerence over swarthes of shimmering hooks. 28 Costumes have cemented themselves as a must- see." [NME]
"Frivolous, serious and totally genius." ARTROCKER
"An engrossing journey... full of risks and ideas." THE INDEPENDENT
"A raging tempest...with the 'Epic' dial cranked up to 11." DAILY STAR
"Truly, this is a work of rare genius." THE FLY
