Married to the Sea

About Me

about us.

Married to the sea formed in 2006 and are based in Liverpool. Having played together in various bands since the late 90's, the members set out to create rowdy pop that people could dance to.
The band draw as much influence from the bittersweet sounds of Abba and Motown as they do from the off kilter dynamics of bands like the pixies, built to spill and grandaddy.

facts & figures.

Married to the Sea played their first ever show at Bring In The Spring 9, New Jersey, USA, alongside Trashtalk in the Kingdom, My Lucky Dime, Engage the Days and Fireseason - the sprung was duly brung. MTTS have played gigs/mash-ups with acts such as Ra Ra Riot, The Spinto Band, Idlewild, The Thrills, Someone still loves you Boris Yeltsin, Slow Club, Hot Club De Paris, Ed Harcourt and Islands - not to mention the ultimate supergroup, The Futureheads and Field Music masquerading as Queen So far MTTS have had tracks available on various CDs — The 2006 MWR Compilation (featuring: "Great! Now I'm in love", and "George the Wolf") available at www.moreweightrecords.com ; and their 2007 5 track promo CD (featuring: "Great! Now I'm in love", "Dear Diary", "Tomorrow I'll do the right thing", "Part I — A captain before his binnacle", and "Crash Hams") - plus a BRAND NEW CD freshly recorded in the swamps of Rochdale. MTTS totally dominated BBC Radio 2 recently on the Janice Long show, performing 3 songs live as well as illuminating the airwaves with polite banter. Not content with appearing less mature than Tiny Masters of Today at a gig in a library, MTTS subsequently appeared on John Cravens Newsround during a press pack feature on the adorable brats. Various MTTS cd and poster ‘art problems’ can be analysed at http://misterbiscuits.co.uk/v01/ Gregs star sign is Pisces so naturally he loves to lose himself in the world of dreams and imagination, and can often be a sucker for a hard luck story.
