About Me

I've been a jazz lyricist for 25 years. No, it doesn't pay well, but you gotta do what you love, right? I've been priviledged to write for some of the best jazz composers Denmark has to offer. Among the many are: Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen - Jørgen Emborg - Niels Lan Doky, and many more. My lyrics have been sung and recorded by many wonderful and talented singers. Among them are: Antonio Banderas,Curtis Stigers,Cæcilie Norby, Lisa Nilsson, Søs Fenger, Hanne Boel, Bobo Moreno, Mona Larsen, Monique, Susanne Palsbøll, Little Jimmy Scott, Halley Westenra, Morten Harket, Malene Mortensen and Helga Søsted to name a few.
What is a good lyric? In my opinion,a good lyric is a story that fits together with the feeling of the music - like a hand in glove. A story that listeners can relate to. A poem that is open to interpretation. I've had many people come up and tell what one of my lyrics means to them - and that's just fine with me! Why vocal jazz? Because there are so many twists and turns, layers and surprises - and room for the unexpected.

My Interests

Music:

The song playing on the little player above is called Those Who Were, (lyric below) which I wrote the lyrics for and the incredible Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen wrote the music. The singer is the wonderful Lisa Nilsson.
Along with my lyric writing I have a Vocal Ensemble that I conduct and arrange for. We perform with different big bands and our own 6 man band. The picture above with all the kids was a perfomance at the official Hans Christian Andersen Concert. The song is called Children First and was named the official Unicef song. Antonio Banderas has recorded it along with Halley Westenra and a huge children's choir.

Lyrics to:

Sometimes a thing can change your life forever.
A someone you don't know is at your door.
Who brings into your life a little magic,
and then becomes a someone you adore.
Hold on to each and every moment
Our Summers turn to Fall;
and those we loved have turned to memories
Who wouldn't love and lose
than not know love at all?

Remembering those times we spent together
I wonder why those moments had to end
Why everything we love is taken from us
Yet, somehow know we'd do it all again
I hold on to each precious moment
and then when I recall
The joy that filled with every memory
I'd rather love and lose
than not know love at all.
