Irina Strange was born in Russia, where she grew up in a world filled with music and musicians. She took the highest music education possible at the university and music conservatory as a pianist and vocalist.
Irina has a unique musical talent; not only is she a fabulous jazz pianist and accompanist, but she has a voice that ranges over 4 octaves!
Irina has played at many jazz festivals across Europe with big bands and jazz ensembles, including jazz venues in Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, Germany, England, Poland, Paris, Norway and Spain and many more.
In 1996 Irina moved to Denmark and began working with some of Scandinavian’s best musicians. She was invited to sing with one of the most famous and experienced jazz big bands in Denmark, namely the Ib Glidemann Big Band Orchestra.
Irina is a fabulous jazz interpreter, greatly influenced by some of her favorite singers, Ella Fitzgerald, Natalie Cole, Carmen McRae, Shirley Horn and Sarah Vaughan, to name a few. She masters the art of scat singing and American Swing music.
Not many can play as well as they sing, and sing as well as they play, but Irina does both with style, flair, feeling, energy, drive and a great stage presence.
Irina Strange is absolutely one of the coming stars in the jazz universe.
