Danish pianist Jørgen Emborg has for years been one of the most significant melodymakers in the field of jazz in Denmark. He has recorded several albums as a leader and has received prices and awards especially for his talent as a composer, among others the Ben Webster Award. Delicate lines, tasteful harmony and elegant arranging are some of the qualities you will hear in his music. Jørgen Emborg has lead/colead several groups with a singer - Frontline (with Cæcilie Norby)- Boel-Emborg-Vinding-Riel (with Hanne Boel) - Emborg/Larsen Group (with Mona Larsen) and Moonsongs. Jørgen Emborg has also played with among others Red Rodney, Clark Terry, Eddie Harris, Joe Henderson, Dave Liebman, Steve Swallow, Carmen Lundy og DeeDee Bridgewater, The Danish Radio Big Band, NDR-BigBand (Hamburg), Tolvan Big Band (Sweden), Equinox (Sweden), Bob Rockwell, Tomas Franck, plus a huge variety of danish and swedish musicians. He has played in countries like Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany, England, Scotland, Canada, Spain, Italy, France and Thailand. His latest project Surrounding Moods is a sextet embedded in 8 channel surround soundscapes. Prologue is the opening tune on the new CD He has written numerous songs with amongst others lyricist Lisa Freeman. Forgotten truth is from the album "Over the Rainbow" featuring Steve Swallow on bass. Emborg has also composed 4 major works for choir ( with Lisa Freeman), pieces for acapella ensembles and 3 pieces for woodwind quintet and piano.
