UFO's utilize gravity for propulsion. To be more specific, there are essentially two "types" of gravity that a UFO is able to harness or amplify for its propulsion. They are as follows:
When high in the atmosphere or in space, a UFO uses the primary or "1st type" of gravity. The use of this "1st type" of gravity allows for a few notable and amazing abilities regarding the craft. First, the UFO is able to travel at EXTREMELY high speeds. The maximum velocity of a UFO is of course a mystery to the average citizen but radar has clocked some traveling at thousands of miles per hour. As a side note, I would like to mention that the ability of a UFO to travel at such extreme speeds is not really that important due to the third attribute that harnessing gravity gives them.
The second attribute that a UFO using a gravity engine possesses is that it is able to make maneuvers an ordinary craft would find quite impossible; such as stopping on a dime or making a complete 90 degree right angle "turn" while traveling thousands of miles per hour. This is due to the craft being essentially enveloped in its own gravity bubble while it is in "motion". So rather than being crushed to a pulp when their craft goes from zero to a thousand in one second, the occupants can continue sipping their lemonade. Interestingly, without instruments or windows of some kind, it would be impossible for an occupant of a UFO to know if it was even moving. I think the best example that I can think of to better describe this "gravity bubble effect" to you would be as follows: at this very moment, while you are reading this, you are actually moving at a tremendous speed through space. Your vehicle in this example just happens to be a planet rather than a UFO. Right now, you're orbiting the sun at about 67,000 miles per hour and depending on your latitudinal place on Earth, you're spinning at about 1000 mph. Pretty fast yes? Yet you of course have no sense of motion at all, whether it is revolving or orbiting (and anyone who told you otherwise would of course have to be burned at the stake). The reason we don't feel this motion is because we are in the "gravity bubble" of a planet. So just think of a UFO as a very, very, very small planet that you can drive.
The third attribute of a UFO, (and this is the real WOW factor) is that they are able to amplify a gravity wave to create a massive distortion in space-time and fold space (an artificial black hole...incredible technology!). This allows them to travel vast distances instantaneously; such as from Florida to Washington, or from Florida to the other side of the galaxy. I believe that it also somewhat explains the "blinking out" effect that some UFO's have which witnesses sometimes describe or record with video. So then, that covers the attributes of the "1st type" of gravity that a UFO harnesses. I would estimate that this "1st type" of gravity is also probably what a UFO utilizes about 99% of the time for its propulsion.
However, when a UFO is very close to the surface of a planet, the incredible mass of the planet interferes with this primary or "1st type" of gravity that the UFO typically uses. The UFO therefore needs to switch its "engines" to a completely different configuration to utilize the "2nd type" of gravity. This enables a UFO to hover close to the surface but this 2nd type of gravity is much less...stable? Therefore it creates a wobbly, jerking rising and lowering motion (perhaps you know what I mean if you've seen video of low flying UFO's). Trees provide a stabilization to this effect, like an anchor. This is why you see or hear of so many "low" UFO encounters in wooded areas. Why exactly trees provide stability for the propulsion system of a gravity engine is beyond me.
