Photobucket" Intergalactic travel is travel between galaxies, and is considered much more technologicaly demanding than even interstellar travel(Interstellar space travel is travel between stars.). At the speed of light, traveling from Earth in the Milky Way galaxy to the Andromeda Galaxy (the nearest major galaxy) would take roughly two and a half million years from the perspective of observers on Earth. In engineering terms, intergalactic travel is considered pure science fiction(but not ruled out, & i'm not a person who feels that it's sci-fi). Because of the great distances, traveling to other galaxies is definitely impractical because of the need for much more advanced propulsion methods than are currently thought possible(based on the technology that the average american is aware of). Even if these issues were solved, navigating a spacecraft across such great distance would require a much deeper understanding of galactic coordinates and position . Although still in early theoretical stages, the use of wormholes would technically and practically be a more suited solution to intergalactic travel and perhaps even interstellar travel.The information contained on this page is believed to be genuine.
