Background:
MelancholiaQUE started making music a few years ago with the project HEIMAT, Thomas Ek produced a demo called Destructive Philosophies (june 2005). HEIMAT explored the operation and collaboration between sound and silence, velocity, speed and rhythm. In the beginning of both Heimat and MelancholiaQUE the music was purely electronic, today, real instruments are incorporated either live or by sampling. MelancholiaQUE is currently working in collaboration with other artists such as 1SG. The styles of influence ranges from post-minimalism, hardcore industry/noise to improvised music and live electronics.
About the music:
Some brief expositions on the music; Project MelancholiaQUE are engaged in the exploration of interupted harmonies, rhythm and the interrelationship of sound and silence. Much of the work is done purely as improvisations that are recorded and later revisited, mixed and mastered. So the pieces you find here should be viewed as works in progress rather than a finished product.MelancholiaQUE believes in the incorporation of all sides of the human experience, with a natural fruition in the form of musical output. Musical endeavours by way of improvisation is the spearhead into our own identities and struggles, and is critical to the dynamic continuum of musical production.
