Music: listening, gig going and playing - Yes, even though I'm a drummer... but I also play bass and geetar (shame I can't sing for shit really, else I could have a whole One-Man-Band thing going on), Movies, telly, books and magazines, gadgets and gizmos, dicking about on t'internet (I'm a mod on Ginger and The Wildhearts' message board )...
A veritable smörgåsbord of wonderful and different artistes (or, "Oh god, you don't like them do you, they're shite" depending on who you talk to). Hell, I'll give pretty much anything a listen once, but I suppose I'm mostly of the rocky persuasion, with a healthy appreciation for cheesy pop on occasion. My colours are (as you've possibly noticed) pretty firmly nailed to The Wildhearts ' mast, and indeed, all things Gingery (try it, especially the unbridled joy that is SilverGinger5's Black Leather Mojo, you'll like it, and if you don't? Well, you're wrong ;o)). Other loves include: The Dresden Dolls (thanks Ila); Butch Walker (thanks Rob); Duke Special; Jimmy Eat World; Fountains Of Wayne; The Long Blondes (thanks Steve. Dammit, I hate it when he's right ;o)); Sinéad Lohan; Levellers; Goo Goo Dolls; Soul Asylum; Pearl Jam; Flaming Lips; Metallica; NIN; Garbage; Blondie; Cheap Trick; Green Day; Terrorvision; Honeycrack; The Beatles; Smashing Pumpkins; The Subways; Everclear; Aztec Camera; Silver Sun; Biffy Clyro; 3 Colours Red; Aerosmith; Boss Hog; Brendan Benson; The White Stripes; The Raconteurs; Josie And The Pussycats; Letters To Cleo; Carrie; ELO; Foo Fighters; Gomez; Guided By Voices; Jackdaw4; Jason & The Scorchers; Steve Earle; The Killers; Kirsty MacColl; The Lee Harvey Oswald Band; Korgis; KT Tunstall; Lily Allen; Little Angels; My Vitriol; New Young Pony Club; No Doubt; Piney Gir; The Pipettes; QOTSA; Ramones; Rancid; The Shirehorses; Superreal; They Might Be Giants; Voice Of The Beehive; Weezer; White Zombie; Willie Nelson; The Wonder Stuff; Zwan... Hmmm, got a bit alphabetical towards the end there, almost as if I was going through my iPod picking stuff out...
Favourite movie ever is Almost Famous but now only the Untitled cut will do 'cos it adds so much to everything about the fillum. I love everything Cameron Crowe's done, same for Kevin Smith; Terry Gilliam and the Python movies; Luc Besson (especially Leon, but seek out The Professional: Uncut International Version as it's so much better.); Jean-Pierre Jeunet; Almodovar; Mel Brooks; Chris Guest et al; the Bournes, LOTRs, Matrixes (Matrices?), Star Warss, Spider-Mans and Batmans (Not so much the Schumacher ones, mind.); Garden State; Kiss Kiss Bang Bang; Serenity... Etc. Etc.
Scrubs; Spaced; Black Books; Heroes; The West Wing has yet to be bettered, although Studio 60 is a close second; Used to love Buffy and Angel, oh, and Firefly; Family Guy; Green Wing; Q.I.; Have I Got News For You; Later; Original C.S.I. (but it's a bit meh recently); NCIS (Abby rocks); House; The Simpsons (Although I don't watch it religiously); Futurama; Yes Minister/Prime Minister; All the Blackadders (I still cry at the end of Goodbyeee) and an odd love for 8 Simple Rules, but that might be more down to Amy Davidson than anything else ;o). I listen to a lot of radio too, but there isn't a space for that...
I'll read anything and everything if it piques my interest. My most re-read book is Mark Radcliffe's Showbusiness: Diary Of A Rock'N'Roll Nobody, a love story for anyone who's ever been in a crap band. Other favourites include Terry Pratchett; Douglas Adams; Philip Pullman; Strangely, Jeremy Clarkson and I'm wading my way through P.G. Wodehouse, but my 'To Read' pile currently contains all sorts from the V For Vendetta graphic novel, through Jasper Fforde, a bunch of Bios on people like John Peel and Billy Connolly, some factual stuff on the English Language on to Don Quixote. A pile that'll get bigger before it gets smaller I imagine as I buy a lot of stuff.
Ginger; Anyone who has figured out what they want and then gone out and got it - wish I could do the first, then I could
