My name's John Horsley, the only member to yet have existed of Celtic Confederate, in which I recently established in the summer of 2007. I write all songs, all musical works, and manage all projects revolving Celtic Confederate at this current time.
My current favorite songs that I'd like to mention, that relate to Celtic Confederate, are the following:
1. Farm Boy (Free South)
2. Back Home in Derry (Jed Marum)
3. I'm a Good Ole Rebel (Un-Reconstructed)
4. Come Out ye Black and Tans (Wolfe Tones)
5. Bury me in Southern Ground (Rebel Son)
6. Simple Man (Charlie Daniels)
7. Fire on the Mountain (Marshall Tucker)
8. Meaghan's Theme (Ross Moore)
9. They Laid Waste to Our Land (White Mansions)
10. The Kiss (Last of the Mohicans)
11. Long Black Train (Josh Turner)
12. Me and God (Josh Turner)
As for my music and self, I'm not here to primarily make profits, but am here to speak the truth. In order to do so, I have to offend people on their behalf of misunderstanding, and therefore I may decrease my following, which means I will decrease my incomes. Though, it is fine with me, because my purpose is to inform the public of the truth.
I make this statement, because numerous people are critical, curious, or advisive with my approach towards the public, informing myself that I am limiting my popularity amongst the fanbase. I am aware of this, and can only achieve my goal of speaking the truth, by risking my reputation.
What I say, is more important than my image and incomes. My insight, calculations, and comprehension have already determined the possibilities. Though, I always accept advice and non-hateful criticism.
Majority of my friends and many people within my family uphold beliefs that I am in opposition to, though I do not hate them nor anyone for their beliefs. I instead tolerate and befriend most opposing persons, while hopefully giving them guidance to help with their mental and spiritual growth.
Majority of far left liberals and far right conservatives I have ever met, typically object to my stance, due to the fact that I do not conform to one side or another, but I choose to align myself with goodness and truth, rather than pride or prejudice for a specific side.
I am a liberal and a conservative. I believe in liberating the Evils within liberal and conservative ideologies, and conserving the morals established by God. In political and social terms, I am actually a paleo-conservative. I am not fond of neo-conservatism and the dominant structure of social liberalism.
I'm no great person, nor a villain. I'm simply a Christian, and a sinner. I been told I'm funny, serious, slow, intelligent, good, evil, quiet, outgoing, annoying, cool, and whatever else.
I just want to say, that I'm a bit of everything, and I don't want people to think I am some great person, then lose respect when they find out that I ain't. So, now you know who I am, maybe.
Speaking of who people are, I have my own definition of what being a "Southerner" is. It is not defined by birthplace or region of upbringing, primarily. In Texas, it is said that a person cannot be considered a Texan if their family hadn't been there for three generations. Well, that isn't good enough for me.
I at first believed that a person's family should have been here for five generations. But, then I realized it could later become a loophole for folks who do not deserve that title. So, I concluded that a person's ancestors through atleast one parent should have been in Dixie since prior to the 1860's.
But, that is only one factor. That person must also not be of a mentality or culture that is in opposition to the Southern culture, in which the definition of that culture had been established long ago and cannot be converted to meet the anti-Southern (carpetbagger/scalawag) standards.
Another measure of defining "Southern", is not by region and ancestry, but by self-beliefs and actions. A person from the North is more eligible of deserving the Southern title than a Southerner could be, "if" their actions and beliefs represent our people in the proper manner, as compared to a scalawag Southerner, who may actually be representative of anti-Southern philosophies and activity.
I consider myself a beginner pro-Southern activist in many aspects. I plan to profess through many occupations in life, and music is simply my stepping stool to other goals I want to achieve. Though, music is one of my greatest passions, and was my second greatest passion that I discovered, aside from my passion for the Earth.
I was born in 1983, and have always lived in Alabama. I picked up a guitar when I was fourteen, and since I was eleven I had always known I would oneday make music. Actually, I think I played a harmonica before any instrument.
When I was young, the first instrument I wanted was a banjo, but my dad wanted to buy a guitar. So, I wanted a Spanish-sounding guitar. I view Spanish guitarists as the greatest in the world, and banjo players from Dixie are the greatest pickers.
The type of music I'm working on for the Celtic Confederate project, is of a style in which I call Southern Heritage, Neo-Confederate, or Backwoods music. It is a mixture of Bluegrass, Country, Celtic, Folk, Spanish Guitar, Gospel, Native American, and Southern Rock, but is not entirely either of those genres.
I later plan on getting into other genres as a person with true Celtic Confederate philosophies and heritage. So, the mentality will be woven into other styles that I'm capable of creating, such as Rap, Industrial, Black Metal, Soft Rock, Experimental, Christian, and so on.
Some folks might see my interest in other genres as being something negative, but I find it to be a positive, being that I can reach my messages to a wider audience.
My music is mainly in defense of my Confederate American heritage. But, also in defense of my God, religion, Celtic heritage, the heritage of other cultures, my personal beliefs, victimized people of the world (Tibetans, Native Americans, Whites, socially conservative Blacks), and in protest against certain offenses and oppressions.
I am recently descended from three lines of Irish families, three lines of Native Americans, one line of Spanish, one line of English, one line of Scotch-English border folk, a line of German, and other ethnicities that married into my family line, hundreds of years ago.
The furthest I have researched into my bloodline, was to a person born in France, the year of 1595. I believe I am also the descendent of an English man with a Norman surname, who lived in the county of Kent during the 1400's. Another man of the past, who invented the Christmas card, is a relative of my ancestors.
I'm a descendent of three Confederate soldiers (possibly more), World War 1 & 2 veterans, a Korean War veteran, and more. I would like to know if I am a descendent of any American Revolutionary War veterans, and probably am, but haven't discovered that.
From my father's side, I'm the great great grandson of a man who died on the Titanic as a 3rd class passenger. My mother's family were mountain folks who began a famous profession of moonshine brewery, through my great grandfather.
My father's mother picked cotton in Missouri all her young life, while my mother's mom quit 5th grade to help provide for her family. My father's dad was a successful man of varying businesses, and a police commissioner. My mother's father was a hard working whiskey smuggler and a farmer.
My mother's family (the Horsley's) were orginally border reivers in Scotland and England. I may possibly be a descendent of the MacFarlane Clan, in which Malduin (grandfather of the MacFarlane's) knew Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland.
Robert the Bruce fought for independence from England, alongside William Wallace, and was also the direct ancestor of Confederate General Robert Edward Lee. These Celtic people all fought beneath the Saint Andrew's banner.
As for my sentiments, I will not betray my God, ancestors, my culture, family, bloodline, religion, and beliefs, all for people who have no respect for what I love, and who care not to understand more about the world and its people.
What I do for my heritage, is what I am actually doing for God and Lord Christ. I did not realize this myself, until I became aware of my own intentions. Majority of what I do for my passions are actually my natural and concealed intentions to serve Christ.
I look into history, because I actually am concerned with the future. All that we have today, is a result of yesterday. We do not know where to go tomorrow, if we do not know where we have been. If we continue to ignore history, then we will repeat the problems of our past.
A person does not have to agree with who I am, or what my ancestors have been. A person can be considerate of having respect, even if they are in disagreement with my heritage. Those who come without respect, will recieve no respect, in return.
If you have any questions, or would like to order my music, then send an email. Also, I will ignore hate mail from other people.
