Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself...

About Me

I am a glass half full pragmatic idealist with a cynical streak that I manage to keep in check by seeking and appreciating the beauty in life, people and art.I rarely complain about things and I try to spark everyone with a positive vibe. Bad drivers irritate me though, I must admit. And there is no shortage of them.I am a Vegetarian turned Vegan (as of January 1, 2007) My body is a temple, not a graveyard. Actually it's all about compassion for animals. I won't lecture or try to convert you. Sit with me and enjoy your steak or fish or what have you. I am one of the most patient people in the world and very determined which is probably why I almost always get what I want. Paradoxically I can be a terrible procrastinator and sometimes I have a blind spot for the obvious. If you lose your wallet or purse or cellphone and I find it I will go out of my way to get it back to you. I am a night owl who gives a hoot. I can keep a secret. I didn't vote for the war(s) as if "We The People" had any clout or say in the matter. I support same sex marriage. I support heterosexual marriage too. Love is love. I am one of the most tolerant and non-judgmental people you are likely to encounter unless you are a racist, fascist, certain other ist's, homophobic, cruel to animals, a supporter of George Bush or an asshole. I have a great sense of humor and a keen ear for sound. Burlesque, live music and stand up comedy are my entertainment passions. Photography, videography, yoga, practicing drums and animal welfare/activism are my personal passions.

The image quality on veoh.com is MUCH better. You be the judge. Also Youtube limits videos time-wise (10 minutes) so some of mine (ours) won't fit there and can only be seen on veoh.

I love a great groove.Good musicianship, good songwriting and not sounding like anybody else are always appreciated. I used to work in the music business in LA in the 80's/90's. Attended UCLA's School of Recording Arts & Sciences. Interned at Mogul Entertainment Group (Personal Management) with Arthur Spivak & George Ghiz. Worked with Tori Amos, Paul Reiser, Kevin Pollak, Pat Mastelotto, The Rembrandts and others on a daily basis. I Managed a couple of bands myself. Including what is now Anyone and which at one point included Ty Dennis - currently the drummer for Firebug, a band I dig the hell out of. I've worked in Publicity and A&R for Atlantic Records. The bands that I dug the most were artistic and not so much about producing hits which is what it was all about for the most part. I never liked corporate attitude (like when music is referred to as "product").I love the DIY/Indie thing. There is so much great music out there (and a lot of starving artists so support the music you love or it will die). CD's sound much better than mp3's. Consider them an investment in musical satisfaction, your ears will be rewarded. It is always a treat to find a new sound that I really dig.

Movies:

Waking Life, Office Space, An Inconvenient Truth, Meet Your Meat, Innerspace, Amadeus, The Caine Mutiny, Lawrence of Arabia, A Clockwork Orange, King Of Hearts, Easy Rider, The Godfather I and II, Wargames, Phenomenon, The Princess Bride, Creator, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Shawshank Redemption, Repo Man, Comedian, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Sex, Lies and Videotape, Goodfellas, The Elephant Man, On The Waterfront, Bogart, Cagney, Clint Eastwood (the baddest bad ass ever and a fellow vegan), Gene Hackman, Orson Welles, Peter O'Toole, Johnny Depp, anything by Kubrick or Kurosawa. The Abyss, Taxi Driver, This Is Spinal Tap, Sunset Boulevard, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Tuskegee Airmen, Cool Hand Luke, Dog Day Afternoon, Resurrection, Curse of The Demon, Pay It Forward, Thief Of Hearts, hell there's a million of 'em. I like a lot of old Black and White classics.

Television:

MSNBC, Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews. Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert. The Sopranos. I rarely actually watch tv, rather I tend to have it on in the background. Except for The Sopranos. It is good for watching DVD's, editing video and it gives my laptop a gorgeous 32" Hi-Def screen. I like that.

Books:

I have been a voracious reader most of my life but really anymore I hardly have time for reading much beyond magazines and reference books. I am currently reading "Yoga - The Spirit and Practice of Moving Into Stillness" by Erich Schiffman. Writers I like.. Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, e.e. cummings, Lewis Carroll, W.B Yeats, Lord Byron, Hemingway, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Emily Bronte, James Joyce, Tennyson, Keats, Longfellow, Wilfred Owen ..all are longtime favorites.

Heroes:

Don't really have any "heroes" as such. There are people that I admire or who inspire me (or both). Albert Einstein (if I could choose one day to spend with any figure in history it would be him), Nikola Tesla, the Tuskegee Airmen, Leonardo Da Vinci (top contender to Einstein), Terence McKenna. Christina Friese.
