Her Imperial Highness, Princess Leila, the youngest child of His Imperial Majesty Mohammed Reza Shah, Shahanshah of Iran, and Farah Diba, was born in Tehran on March 27, 1970. In 1979 Leila and her family were exiled from Iran,and Leila grew up in exile, attending private schools in New York and Massachusetts, attended Brown University, and spent most of her time between Greenwich, CT, New York, London, and Paris, never seeing Iran again. Traumatized by the event, she suffered from depression, which affected her life. On June 10, 2001 she was found dead in her room at the Hotel Leonard in London. Though the offical cause of death was declared a drug overdose it is possible foul play may have been involved.
