Musicians, writers, artists, political thinkers... creative types, free thinkers and just plain cool people of all shapes and colors.

Television is like any other drug: Good in small doses, to be used recreationally only. Take a few trips there from time to time, feel good, escape from reality, but whatever you do, don't depend on it for sustinence or it will control your life and your decision-making process.
That said...
Simpsons!! Family Guy, all Star Treks (well, not so much Voyager..), Football, Baseball. I like to be whisked away to far away lands on the Travel channel. Big fan of Meerkat Manor (check out my Where's Shakespeare? store!)
Fiction:
1984, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, All Quiet on the Western Front, Machiavelli's The Prince, Catcher in the Rye, any Raymond Chandler, Jack London, John Steinbeck, or Charles Bukowski.
Non-Fiction
'Rogue State' by William Blum, 'The Party's Over' by Richard Heinberg, 'The CIA's Greatest Hits' by Mark Zepezauer, 'They Thought They Were Free' by Milton Meyer... If you really want to know what's going on out there in the world, as far as I'm concerned, 'Crossing the Rubicon' by Michael C. Ruppert is the best there is.
