I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet:
The nerds who don't care that their cape is too tight and shoes are untied.
The artists who obsess on their passions and forget that days have gone by.
The weirdos that have never seen another person like them; but know they're out there.
Musicians who play with passion and soul, and who like to take things one step further.
Inventors who are more like magicians than capitalists. The teachers who believe in "Decendo Discumus" or "Learn by Teaching"
I want to meet people who know this is a crazy and mixed up world and throw their hands up to the air to fly a kite

Music:

Tiger Lillies, Tom Waits, Cab Calloway, Clara Rockmore, Edith Piaf, Cows, Black Sabbath, Brian Eno, Washboard Sam, Tampa Red, Minutemen, Dickies, Dead Milkmen, Dr. Killbot, Mucca Pazza,
odd music, old creepy childrens songs, music from around the world- like Tuvan throatsingers, The Guild of Aquired Technology. Folk, Jazz, and Blues from the 1940's and before, big orchestrated pieces,
besides that...mmm, there's a lot; basically anything that doesn't sound like whiny crap. I hate that. There's just so many genres of music with whiny crap in it.

Movies:

Lots of Janus and Kino films. They are creepy and good. Fantasy. Silent Films (Like the original Peter Pan from the 1920's or Starevich's animation collection including my favorite
"The Cameramans Revenge--he was a taxidermist before he started animating, and its the first stop-motion character film!!)""Propaganda Films (If Footmen Tire What Will Horses Do - is a recent favorite"
And I like informative documentarys, that don't try to showboat their cause-(recent-the scary Jesus Camp, or Off the Charts: The Song-Poem Story)
Otherwise older horror, old comedy, Studio Ghibli films, anything animation (except newer Disney and such). I don't know. Give me a genre and I can tell you what movie l like best in it- Or top 5.

Television:

Degrassi Junior High (the one from canadia) The Storyteller, Mr Show, Kids in the Hall, My Littlest Hobo, Sesame Street, Mr.Dressup, The Muppets, Carnivale, Globe Trekker, Eureka, Invader Zim, all regulars in crap-tv animation.
PBS in general. Pretty much any programs that don't make me angry because it's so filtered, mind-numbing and brain-washinnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg........ sorry, I was watching the news.

Books:

Amos Tutuola is great---both strange and grotesque (very visual). How-to books, so that I can learn everything from building a soap-box car to making molds for some belt-buckles.
I feeeeed off of learning new things, so I have many-a-hobby, and hobby books. Other painters like Bosch or Joe Coleman. Then I have the oddity collections like Alice in Orchestralia (from the 1930's) or Ignatz and Krazy Kat books.

Heroes:

Scientists and Nerds mostly. But personally I look up to the Brothers Quay, Jan Svankmeyer, Ladislas Starevich, Tesla, Calder,
Pierre Palo Pasolini and Jim Henson.

palm wine jitters

Well today I am refining a shadow puppet show. It's from Amos Tutuolas book: The Palm Wine Drinkard. This will be my very first puppet production. I have high expectations in how it's all going to go ...
