About Me

The Program for Torture Victims (PTV) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to alleviate the suffering and health consequences of torture through psychological, medical, and social services to victims of state-sponsored violence. The United States government estimates that up to 500,000 survivors of state-sponsored torture live in the US.

Established as a volunteer organization in 1980, PTV is the oldest torture treatment center in the United States. We serve approximately 250 clients each year from over 60 countries.
