We are a hard working blues band packed with experience based in Marlborough, Wiltshire UK. Playing Blues and Rhythm & Blues music, with a Rockin' Blues edge thrown in for good measure. We formed in 2004 to celebrate a special birthday of Jane, one of two singers in the band. This followed many late-night acoustic musical sessions (and early mornings!) involving the other founder members of the band. In 2005 we become a six-piece band adding Dan on blues harp to the guitar-based line up. Paul is the latest addition to the band joining us on drums in 2007.
Out of the Blue are…Danny Simonis - Vocals and GuitarDanny spent many years in the London music scene and in his youth was auditioned and short listed for lead vocalist for several professional bands. His Blues and rock influences come from many sources including Led Zeppelin and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He plays the musical director role in the band and plays a mean guitar.
Stuart Whant – Bass GuitarStuart has played with many local bands since he was 16 playing both cover versions and original material. These bands include Journeyman’s Grace, Déjà -vu, and another band called Out of the Blue! He enjoys song writing with Danny to contribute to the original material played by the band. He tries to organise the band but confesses that it would be easier to herd cats!
Jane Witcomb - Vocals and PercussionJane has had a career in local acting and musicals but has spent the last two and a half years using her talents as part of the band. She has enjoyed this transition and likes blending melodic and rockier material in her singing repertoire. She has recently been persuaded into the role of feeding the band at post gig wind downs but that doesn’t get her out of setting up and talking down the band gear.
Chris Witcomb - GuitarChris was the sound man for a semi professional band but now uses his talents on stage. His Les Paul guitar is the second love of his life and he proves that a husband and wife can perform harmoniously in one band something that others as mighty as Fleetwood Mac failed at. Chris plays rhythm and lead guitar but is most happy bouncing his way through lead breaks.
Dan Collins – Blues Harmonica & Backing Vocals Dan has been playing the Blues Harp for over 18 years in bands such as PJ Harvey and Ray Dorset’s Highway 49. He has jammed with countless other bands and also plays Bass, Keyboards and Sings. He is also a local FireFighter which can come in handy! Dan loves creating that authentic Chicago Blues sound through his range of Hohner blues harps and classic Sure Green-Bullet mic, as well as throwing in the odd backing vocal.
Paul Davis - DrumsPaul is the latest edition to the band’s line up. He has been playing drums for more than 25 years and has performed in a wide variety of bands. In that time he has sat behind the kit in a new romantic 4 piece called 'Play', a rock/blues 6 piece called 'Fat Lardy Bloke' and a grunge band called 'Noise Merchants of Venice'. More recently he has been playing in local rock covers band namely Diezel Cheeze Weezel and Rocket Dog.In spring 2007 we released our first studio EP titled
