About Me

Moving away from the general trends for rock and blues, About A Girl offer their audience a refreshing blend of musical entertainment. The band is based in North Wiltshire and features the stunning Jenny-Lee on lead vocals.
With a broad spectrum of numbers, the band cover all styles to keep audiences entertained. From the power pop of Sheryl Crow, Annie Lennox and Blondie, the raunchier rock of Pink and Meredith Brookes to the smoother sound of Crowded House, The Calling and KT Tunstall, the band cross the age divide, catering for all tastes and occasions.
With a tight, lively sound, About A Girl guarantee to keep audiences entertained from the first note to the last.

About A Girl Video's
We recently cut 3 "live" tracks at Pete Lamb's Music Workshop Studio, one at least of which we are going to use as the backing track for a music video, to be produced by Matt Wicker at Jaypark Studio's in Chippenham, Wiltshire. Matt came along to the session with his camera to shoot a few filler clips and ended up producing a new video for us using Bitch as the soundtrack....
The atmospheric video below was shot and produced by our good friend Matt Wicker at one of our rehearsals in March 2008. The band performed Pink's Who Knew for the camera.
The video clips below show us performing "Smile" and "Spooky" at the 2007 Calne Bike Meet, from the back of a lorry in pouring rain!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.aboutagirl.co.uk
Band Members: Jenny-Lee McCallan - Lead Vocals
Shelly - Guitar & Vocals
Dave Brown - Drums & Vocals
Alex McCracken - Keyboards
Gary Bridges - Bass Guitar
Influences: Jenny-Lee: This is not easy, so many! For example Sheryl Crow, Karen Carpenter, Eva Cassidy loads of others.
Shelly: Its always been the songwriters that have done it for me, people like Elvis Costello, Neil Young and the Finn brothers from Crowded House fame. Their ability to turn out special songs, time after time, leaves me amazed.
My favourite guitarists are numerous so here is my top five:
Billy Gibbons - ZZ Top, Jeff (Skunk) Baxter - Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers, James Taylor, The Edge, Keith Richards
Gary: Mark King, Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius.
Alex: Pink Floyd, Thunder, Elton John, Billy Joel and Queen.
Dave:I count myself lucky enough to have played with some excellent musicians over the years so I guess those guys have helped to influence me and hopefully make me a better player.
Stevie - Our original Bass Player: It would read like an A-Z. I listen to everything from Blues to Jazz, Pop to Punk and Rock to Reggae. I may not like it all but there's always something to be learned from it. I think a lot is in my head but it has to have come from somewhere!
Sounds Like: Here are a few numbers from our current set list:
A Change Would Do You Good
Wherever You May Go
Crush
Other Side Of The World
Wishing On A Star
Little Bird
Complicated
Put Your Records On
Spooky
Bitch
Forever Lost
Maria
Who Knew
