My Interests

Reading, creative writing, music, collecting and wearing vintage clothes and shoes (1970s mostly), film especially old movies, comedy, being outdoors, giving holistic treatments, dreaming, helping to run a website for the brilliant author Phil Rickman (www.philrickman.co.uk), spending time with my dog 'cause he makes me laugh and he feels like warm velvet.

I'd like to meet:

I have met most of my heroes and they are all delightful people.

Music:

Kate Bush, Judie Tzuke, Happy Rhodes, Joni Mitchell, Marillion, h (Steve Hogarth), Muse, Morcheeba, Nick Drake, Tom Paxton, Peter Gabriel, Ambeon, Alan Parsons Project, Bailey Tzuke, The Violet Hour, Mediaeval Baebes, Pink Floyd, Caroline Lavelle, Regina Spektor, Stereophonics, Iona, Roy Harper, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Eric Satie, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Antony and the Johnsons, Christine Collister, Joan Armatrading, Bjork, Tom Paxton, Milla, Mary Travers, Rickie Lee Jones, Del Palmer, a number of very talented folk on My Space...and so many other wonderful and talented souls. I'm a lyricist and vocal melodies person currently working on a new solo project.

Movies:

The Innocents, Dead of Night, The Wicker Man, Went The Day Well, The League of Gentlemen, Rebecca, Brief Encounter, Gaslight, Kind Hearts & Coronets, Night of the Demon, Wuthering Heights (Oberon/Olivier), The Lord of the Rings trilogy (Peter Jackson, we are not worthy!), Life of Brian, all the Harry Potter films, This Is Spinal Tap, The Company of Wolves, Moulin Rouge, all the James Bond films, Henry The V (Kenneth Branagh version), Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Picnic At Hanging Rock, The Getting of Wisdom, Lianna, La Cage aux Folles, Underworld, X Men, Dracula, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Thelma and Louise, Don't Look Now, 1969, 2001 A Space Odyssey, a variety of the old Hammer films and in fact anything that takes my fancy.

Television:

Dr Who,The League of Gentlemen, Torchwood... good docus, wildlife programmes.

Books:

Phil Rickman tops my list and if you haven't yet discovered him, check out the website www.philrickman.co.uk. This guy is pure talent and he's totally home-grown, too. Favourite books by other authors include The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Wuthering Heights, A Fatal Inversion (Barbara Vine), selected biographies, mind/body/spirit books, anything by Emma Restall Orr (my spiritual inspiration), books about the supernatural, all of M R James, and, er, puzzle books. Heavily into works by the late, great Robert Westall who wrote such brilliant books for older children. Some of his books number among my all time favourite reading material. Somewhere along the line I just never grew up. Good!

Heroes:

My dog, Jack the Whippet! How he puts up with me I don't know but he always has a waggy rear end and lots of licks and athletic leaps waiting for me when I come home, plus he keeps me warm at night. I truly admire the brave in spirit. By name: Emma Restall Orr for her strength, her wisdom, her beauty and her inspiration; my dear friend Pauly T for never judging, for making me laugh when I am down, for being the best friend a girl could ever have; and lastly but by absolutely no means least, my wonderful husband and soul mate Geoff who needs no qualification - he is simply the best thing that has ever happened to me (evenif he is totally mad at times!).
