"The Reggae Sessions"

About Me

Princess Julianna aka P J Higgins returns yet again with another class instalment...True to form, this time under her original stage name…We see PJ paying homage to her Jamaican heritage.More commonly synonymous in the Punk/Rock field...PJ personifies the synthesis of musical Britain during the late 1970’s...Where Punk and Reggae formed an uncanny but explosive alliance. Queen of lyrical subversion and never shy of mixing a satirical undercurrent within her work, we see PJ teaming up once more with ‘The Black Stripe’ producer - 'El Greco', to conjure the reworking of the great Tapper Zukie classic (MPLA)…Zukie - one of P J’s favourite DJ’s…Was revered and acquired cult status amid London’s Punk community during the mid/late 70’s. PJ ‘s version (MBNA) is a humorous take about her shopping exploits with a newly acquired Visa credit card! Also for the second time, PJ reunites with Sandy Hoover (DJ Chick), producer of ‘Baby’ on P J’s primary page http://www.myspace.com/pjhiggins : to collaborate alongside Mexican supremo….Canek Cabrera, formerly of Los De Abajo, to form Reggaeton outfit ‘Bimba Matic’.Few others possess the enviable ability to effortlessly transgress from one genre to the next with unequivocal authenticity.Quirky and innovative in style, comparisons have placed PJ in the ranks of Blondie, Gwen Stefani to Grace Jones…But however close in stature, the sound is unmistakeable and there can only ever be one Princess Julianna…...
