First and foremost I’m a songwriter and as a writer, I often work within a variety of styles ranging from Electro/Dance/Punk/Reggae/Dancehall…Whatever projects come my way.I’m constantly bemused by the messages I often receive from people…Those who fail to comprehend ‘Why a black girl would sing Rock?’ or ‘If I’m so Punk, how can I possibly have the audacity to do Dancehall!’…
But music knows no colour…It’s a device in which to unify, not segregate…
I live in a multicultural society and draw influence from the sounds around me.
I consider the ability to bounce between genres an asset, not a hindrance…
It adds a touch of differentiation to what would otherwise be ordinary...
So, whatever your preference...Be it PJ Higgins, The Black stripe or Princess Julianna…I hope I succeed in capturing your imagination in some way…And at most, introducing you to a world undiscovered.
