RUTA

Ruta Svipaite (Vilnius/Lithuania).Ruta was born in Panevezys. She started sing folk music with her grandmother when she was four years of age. After three years she started folk dance and after two years she started sing pop-classic music at Music School. She was little singer at many vocalists concerts and competitions. In 2002 Ruta began to study choir conductor speciality in Panevezys Conservatory of Music. She was a member of vocal group "Happy". First step in Jazz music was three years ago(2004) when Ruta started jazz vocal speciality in Lithuanian Academy of Music & Theater. After two years she was winner (Second Prize) at Vocalist Competition "Sing Up 2006", Vilnius-Lithuania. And 2006 winner (Second Prize) - International Jazz Vocalist Contest "Jazz Voices 2006", Klaipeda-Lithuania. In The International Festival For Young Jazz Players "Jazz Fontanas 2007" she won nomination "The Best Festival Voice 2007".She won a II place in band competition "Sound Labrotary 2007". Now Ruta have many projects with different music styles like jazz, pop, funk, gospel music (two years ago she started singing in gospel choir, best-know how "Sounds in G"). She is a member of Swing Big Band in whith she is a singer. She is a Big Band singer of Music Academy were she studing now and with this band she had a concerts tour in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Holland. She is a participant in jam-sessions. Now Ruta have a group "QU5" in whith she is a singer, composer, arranger, player with pipe, percussion(sometimes).With this band she was a participant in The International Festival For Young Jazz Players "Jazz Fontanas 2007" where they won First Prize. With this band she was a participant in "Vilnius Jazz 2007", "Birstonas Jazz 2008"festivals. "I love music. I love new sound, new power. When I composing, I don’t afraid to try new sound, new rhythm, form." Ruta’s affirmation is, that her creation is experimental with jazz, classic, pop, meditation and other styles.
