About Me
I was born on 12th April 1980 in the West Cheshire Hospital, until the age of four I lived with my mum, dad & younger brother in Connahs Quay North Wales. In 1984 my dad was offered & accepted a job transfer to Morecambe Bay, Lancashire, where I was to spend the next 19yrs of my life.My parents decision to move, although they didn't know it, had a profound effect on my life. For many years to come I would cling desperately to the hope that one day we'd return to the place I considered to be my home.I can remember preciously at a very young age making a conscious decision to to do all that I could to help me remember & remind myself of people & placesI was a sensitive kid; I grew up extremely withdrawn, introverted & observant.I took on board absolutely everything! I paid attention to every detail, aesthetic & mannerism of: objects, places, buildings & people.I began to draw when I was six years old; it was a form of attention seeking to begin with. But the more I did it, the more I came to love it.I hated school, although admittedly it wasn't all bad. I had very few friends, choosing not to allow myself to get close to anyone, just in case my parents did decide to move again.Music & films have played an enormous part in my life. Films feed my imagination, & music became & is another way for me to keep my memories alive.I've grown up associating so many different experiences to music, something that is reflected in my work.A prime example is the song: "Abracadabra" by the Steve Miller Band to which I associate most if not all of my very earliest childhood memories, I don't just mean images & colours, but smells, textures, sounds, atmospheres, feelings & thoughts I had at that time, even conversations people had. That's just to begin with, then there's the details, streets signs, car registrations, graffiti on walls.By the time I was 17 my life was ruled by my fears, anxieties & paranoia. I began to self-harm when & around the same time I became bulimic. Panic attacks dictated my life & I became more and more isolated…it all went pretty shitty from this point onwards, to say the very least, by the time I was 19 I was at an all time low. However not long after, as is with life, I was forced to accept certain truths and reassess my life.I decided to take sometime out & in 2001 I enrolled in an Art Foundation Course for the 2nd time determined to prove to everyone I could do it.With everyday that went by, my confidence and self-estheme grew stronger and stronger. However it was to be a self-written and directed project, which would go on to, change my life in ways that I could never have imagined. In 2002 I moved to London to study Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Arts. For the first time in 22years I'd finally found somewhere that felt like home, free from paranoia & anxiety.Since then I've gone on to have to have the most amazing & literally breath taking experiences, all of which have been inspirational to me.LOVEMYFLASH CODE /LOVEMYFLASH CODE
