HISTORY:
From the ashes of Ampersand [Carl Caracia (Guitar), Adam Neubauer (Bass), Paul Aquilino (Drums)], Blackbirds was formed out of the improvisations of open jams and push-button room recordings. After a couple of shows and some studio time, Paul left to play guitar in another band, and we regrouped. We jammed with several local players, to gauge our approach and widen our spectrum. With our open-door policy, we learned to make the most of out whatever involvement other players could afford. We are a revolving door conglomerate of musicians. Our songs are written as a group and changed through evolution.

CONTRIBUTORS:
After the unfolding of the first lineup, we played with several musicians, including Paul Neidhardt & Joe Martin (both in the French Mistake/the American), James Welch, Steve Shaffer, Eric Berben (Nope), Kathy Parmelee (Headwounds, Mongoloidian Glow), Lee Blades & Tom Kerner (both in Blank; Lee- Future Perfect also), George Dobson (Lupari, Woman) and Chip Scott (Prisoner of Conscience). Our 2 oldest contributors to BLACKbirds remain to be Eric Berben and Chip Scott. We've known them since grade school, and these guys help us push our musical genres and grooves to the furthest. There's always a groovy tune to jam when Eric or Chip come around to play. We record with Chip a couple times a year, which usually produces some great rough ideas. The track 2 New Blue was written by Chip, and accompanied by Carl (drums) & Adam (bass), literally on the day Chip had to leave. We may include some of our other tracks in the future, or otherwise re-record them later, or move onto new material.Eric has recently renewed his involvement in Blackbirds, as a switching player on drums and guitar.

REDBIRD:
Our most recent arrangement had been writing and performing songs since 2004, known as Blackbird Redbird . The Redbird consisted of Carl Caracia (Guitar/Vocals), Adam Neubauer (Bass), Ryan Brown (drums) and later Dave Drell (Guitar). We no longer play as the Redbird, but some elements of songs remain in our current set.
