About Me

MyGen Profile Generator It is with deep sorrow, not regret, that I announce the indefinite discontinuation of B-MORE VIBE MAGAZINE. After a year of financial uncertainty and little growth, compounded with lack of staffing, community support, and also my own personal life changes, I have after much thought and consideration decided it is best to call it quits.
You have to know when to fold your hand.
Perhaps in another city, or at another time, a publication constructed with so much heart would have made it. I am satisfied with my decision and have no regrets.
In late 2006, the plan was to resurrect the magazine which me and my foster brother nursed when we were teenagers. Through this, I planned to build a network of associates and friends with whom I could share my interests and talents and establish a backbone of support for my own career as an artist; and at the same time, have a vessel to release my need for “digital” artistic creativity and expressing my thoughts freely. While both missions proved true, still one thing was missing: me as an artist. The whole year flew by, and instead of having a plump catalogue of music, I had two songs that I recorded at home on a digital mixer and a $99 mic. This was disappointing. I had set out to invent my own “brand” of hip hop similar to the approach innovators like Missy Elliott and TLC had done in years past; instead I threw together some tracks I am very unsatisfied with. Somehow, emcee/singer-Rogue got lost in the shadow of publisher/ceo-Rogue.
But above all, the grounds for discontinuing this project are financial. Suddenly I find myself over $4,000 in credit card debt (solely on the magazine and all its expenses) and with a newborn child that needs me. Even someone who is not a parent can understand the reasoning behind choosing your baby’s needs over that of any other thing. I look at him, I look at my negative bank account, and I know what I have to do. He will always come first. I suppose this didn’t occur to me until I saw him for the first time and fell in love. I now find myself bitter that I let my finances get so out of control for a publication that no one really reads.
It was real while it lasted.
I would like to give my sincerest thanks to the following people, without whom the publication would not have lasted as long as it did: First, my right-hand woman Me’Aze Millioni aka Bosslady – you provided unconditional support and put in so much work without pay. You never asked for a dime, instead you willingly escorted me to events and even spent a little of your own money to promote this thing. You are a good friend, and a good person. We will continue to work closely. Mike Wheaton – I wish I had found you sooner. Not only are you one of the coolest guys Ive met in a while, your talent is limitless and your work never ceases to amaze me. You are a photogod. What’s more – you did it all for free. I am sorry we didn’t get to work together longer, but you know we will in the future for other things! Amotion – from day one, you were there to provide sound business advice and moral support. I consider you a true friend. If you ever need anything, I am here at your disposal. BOMB, UnReal, PenDragon, Tha Proffitt, Gambit aka Remy Le Beau: All of you have continuously provided financial and community support by taking out ads almost every issue. It likely would not have lasted as long without your ad purchases and enthusiastic support, and for that I thank you dearly. Sonny Brown, DJ Mus, Edith Williams, G. Major, Schani Simone, Al Shipley, Jade Fox, Solomon, Hotspitta, J5, Ms Stress, B Fly, Scholar, Hone Grn Eyz, Backland, Midas, Spitts McMan (even though I think you dislike me all the sudden, lets discuss this!!), Ashley Ross and Ill Fated, you have all provided some service or show of support to me in some way over the last year, and I couldn’t let that go unappreciated. I hope we will all continue to work together and support each other in years to come.
This is not the end of Rogue, just of B-MORE VIBE MAGAZINE. You will continue to see me around, I am not “leaving” in fact I will be present in different forms other than media. Fan, supporter, performer, or just partygoer – I will be around.
If you would like to HELP me get out of debt, the “donate” button will remain on the website, and backissues will be available as singles or as a “set of 4”. Additonally, you can purchase them wholesale (for a profit of $2 per unit) by contacting me at myspace.com/roguevers or 443.762.1097.
Lastly, my sincerest apologies to the following people, who may feel “ripped off” or disappointed because they or their work was supposed to be featured in an upcoming issue: Mike Wheaton, Edith Williams, gorgeous model Noel, Hotspitta, BOMB, the few people I hired last minute that never got to work, and all the performers for the Watch This! Mixtape release party. I will have some screenshots available of PART of the already constructed fifth issue for download shortly, including Hotspitta’s feature and footage from the Blammy Awards.
Thank you, Baltimore for your love in 2007 – it was real.
