Lakishia realized that she had a passion for writing at a very young age; one year her grandmother had given her a journal for her birthday and from that point on one of Lakishia's best friends became her pen; she was just 9 years old.During Lakishia's middle school years, she began writing poetry, plays, and scribbled down notes for her first novel; by the age of 13 she'd completed that novel and titled it "The Teenagers of Wanersville". In 2005 she went on to self publish her novel "What Ever Happened 2 My King" a hardcore fictional story that depicts the rigorous tragic formalities of life in the hood. What Ever Happened 2 My King received immediate favorable notice in Maryland and went on to sell thousands of copies. The second edition of "What Ever Happened 2 My King" is scheduled for release in the Summer of 2009 along with the highly anticipated sequel "Life's Pains Destiny's Gain".Being a self published author with limited resources didn't discourage Ms. Smith from persevering through the barriers that many newcoming self published, underrepresented authors encounter; aside from the fact that she has sold thousands of her first novel as a self published author, she has guest appeared on dozens of well known radio stations such as 92.Q, Baltimore's number 1 station for hip-hop and R& B and has been publicized in some of B-more's top publications including B-more Vibe Magazine and The Praise Reports.Lakishia is a very inspirational young lady that is on the rise and already receiving recognition from readers of all genres as well as representatives from several well known publishing houses in the literary world. She is an extremely talented writer, and visionary whose name will only get larger an remain mentioned for the long run!
