My influences(or should I say,"Inspired by")run the gambit! Currently,I've been into Benny Greb,Aaron Spears,Chad Smith and others,but my main guys are Nicko McBrain,Alex Van Halen,
Matt Sorum,Clyde Stubblefield,Charlie Watts,Dennis Chambers,Mike Portnoy,Chad Smith,Thomas Lang and any other great drummer that comes along and gives me something to work on!!A little info on my set-up(drum kit).The kit is a late 70's/Early 80's Remo Quadura Composite Drum kit(13x11 & 16x16 toms and a 16x22 Bass drum(Wine Red). I use a Pearl Export 14x6.5 Chrome Snare. Hardware consists of DW7000 double bass pedal,Pacific cymbal stands and a Mapex hi-hat stand.
Evans G2 Coated Double Ply heads on all the toms & Evans EMAD Single Ply on the bass drum,but I use Aquarians Studio-x batter heads on my snare. Great attack!!(Might be going back to Aquarian Studio-X heads on all my drums. I love the sound I get!!)
As cymbals go,I have 2 sets of hi-hats(14" Zildjian A Custom Crash on top of a 70's New Beat Bottom(as my remote hats-Killer sound!),14" Zildjian K session dark bottom(on top)/14" Dyno Z bottom(on bottom)as my main
hi-hats.
As far as crash cymbals go,I only use "Vintage" Zildjian crashes. They sound the best!! 70's & 80's are the best years for Zildjian cymbals,period!!(in my opinion!)
Crashes are 70's 18" Medium Thin crash and a
80's 19" K Dark crash.I added an Istanbul Samatya 16" crash recently(similar to K Custom) and my new baby,is a 20" K Custom Dry Ride,to round out the collection!! "SWEEEEEET!!!!"
I use Vic Firth 8DN drum sticks.(I'm looking for an endorsement deal!!)
