ENOUGH LIGHTNING FOR EVERYONE:
THE STORY OF HER DREAM "Anj's songs are portraits set to music that touch the soul. Her introspective, thoughtful music is a manifestation of true talent and self-expression" - Steve Angelucci, Atlantic City Weekly.

Anj is a singer/songwriter/pianist that exhibits unusual poise and relaxed honesty onstage for a woman in her early twenties. Yet it’s no wonder she is so at home when performing. At age 8 she appeared as Dorothy singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at Bally Park Place Casino in Atlantic City, in a production of Around the World in 80 Minutes. She captured the hearts of an audience of over 900 people.

In her still young career, this artist gathered a lot of attention from the press along the east coast. She has received favorable press from critics of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Courier Post, The Philadelphia City Paper, Atlantic City Weekly, The Ocean City Sentinel, The Egg Harbor Township Current, National Entertainment, and more.

ANJ has spent the last few years building a steady fan base through performances throughout the tri-state area. She has toured venues such as Ceasars and Bally's Casino in Atlantic City, Grape Street Pub, World Café (WXPN), local festivals such as Arts Alive, NYC's oldest rock club The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, and Café Vivaldi. Anj was asked to perform at the twinning ceremony in San Gregario, Italy and has also performed in Zurich Switzerland.

Anj has a haunting yet strangely confident voice, that is pristine and yet extremely vulnerable. Her live performances have been likened to a one-woman play set to music, as she reaches out to the audience in interludes of conversational poetry that describe the genesis of each song. She demonstrates a beautiful command of her instrument as she tells the story of one who cares too deeply and feels too much and thus is the root of much of her own anguish.

Singing and accompanying herself on grand piano Anj has been at times compared to Janis Ian, Tori Amos, Norah Jones, Laura Nyro and Joni Mitchell, but as is always the way with artists who remain true to themselves, her style is definitely her own.

With the release of a single in 2005, "Praise (Happy Birthday My Father)" and now her second full-length album "When Grey Blushes", released in November 2007, the music industry is beginning to take notice of this rising young songstress. ANJ was asked to perform at the Westin Hotel in Los Angeles at the TAXI music convention, and one of her songs from her recent album was a runner up in the "VH1 Song of the Year" Contest.

She is known amongst fellow musicians, fans and followers, for her unfaltering determination, ambition and committment to her dream of having the world hear her music. When within her company, you will often hear her say"There is enough lightning for everyone to be struck with good fortune, you just need to be willing to stay out in the rain long enough be soaked through to the bone."

So stay tuned: she is truly an artist to watch.

Ever since I was little, the only place I've ever felt truly and wholly myself is behind a piano. Something strange takes place when I sit on that bench, when my fingers touch that Ivory. I become confident, fearless, and strong. I can do no wrong, and I can tell my stories, blemished and full of flaws and be happy to share the imperfections of my soul with an audience.People say that my songs are poetry set to music, a one-woman-play and I suppose they're right. But if i had to word it myself, I'd say that my music is the real me. Stripped down. Every song is a time stamp - a record of a place, a person, maybe just a moment that changed me. It's how I deal with loss, for I have loved more fiercely than I believe many ever will and consequently, have lost just as severely. It's also how I deal with the most overwhelming positive feelings that need to be expressed; joy, gratitude, peace. Songs are how I keep those people and places real in my mind. Every time I play a song, I am transported back to the place in which I was inspired to write it.So thank you for taking time to listen to my songs and my art. If you like my music, you may also feel free to check out my blog. I hope to someday publish a book of poetry and prose and would appreciate any feedback you might have. The truth is, it hasn't been easy following this road - living this life. It's all I can do to just keep going most days; to find the courage to persevere and hold tightly to my dream when everything around me is trying to rip it from my hands. Sometimes I think I've lost my sanity, but other times I think it's all the other people who live their lives without passion or dreams that are crazy. I am following this road not because I want to, but because I need to. To put it simply, music is who I am. Anything else would be a lie.Grace and Peace,Anj ..

“Anj's songs are portraits set to music that touch the soul. Her introspective, thoughtful music is a manifestation of true talent and self-expression.” Steve Angelucci, Atlantic City Weekly."In these days when musicians are judged not by talent, but how many club openings they attend; When how many trips to rehab are more important to albums sale than the emotional invest an artist makes to their work, I was ready to hang my head in mourning for music. And then I stumbled across Anj and, miraculously, I began to feel genuine hope. That's the best way to describe Anj, Genuine. She takes you by the hand as she leads you on her journey through life. And, even if you just met her, you find yourself recognizing some familiar landmarks along the path. If you want to laugh or cry or remember what life has to offer, buy this CD. Then sit back, close your eyes and recall the last time when grey blushed in your life." John K. Alvarez, The Star and Wave"Anj weaves personal storytelling with her unique vocal style and magnificent piano skills into a heartfelt performance you will surely remember." Larry Oakes, Founder of Singer/Songwriter Sessions, The Bitter End & CBGB’s, NYC"With a soaring, often tremulous soprano voice, impressive piano-playing skills and diary-like lyrics about love, twisted friendships, this 22-year-old South Jersey native has built a steady fan base through relentless coffeehouse gigging.” Nicole Pensiero, Philadelphia City Paper"Drama plays a crucial part in Anj’s music. Cinematic songs such as "Former Stranger" are deeply personal, with lyrics about someone longing for human connection. Her music combines the confessional lyrics of Carole King with the theatrical storytelling of Tom Waits." Tim Zatzariny, The Courier Post“Her introductions before each song give great insight to her remarkable life, as well as her songwriting craft. The live performances are very intimate, and display the true talent of this incredibly gifted young lady.” Dale Pantalione of Elsewhere Records“Simply Beautiful” Singer/Songwriter James Taylor"Anj is an artist who can connect with an audience as well as she connects with her feelings, hopes and dreams. I was truly entertained by a great musician, song-stylist and poet who creates a very original show on stage." Eric Taber, Piping Plover Productions, Atlantic City, NJ"If you’re lucky, every once in awhile you get to see something special – something you don’t see everyday – like, a pair of fawns or a double rainbow. Sometimes if you’re really lucky, you will get to see the birth of a star.” Christopher South, Ocean City Sentinel"Dressed in a flower on black peasant blouse, blue jeans and bare feet, her appearance is reminiscent of the 1960's coffeehouse singers who sang of reflection and change. Her sound brings to mind Sarah McLachlan with a bit of Norah Jones. Her voice is as rich, deep and flexible as the lyrics she composes." R.J Liberatore, The Current
