Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1960. He started studying the piano at the age of 5. At 18 he got accepted to the Conservatory of Rio de Janeiro. During this time he also studied the tenor saxophone wich became his principal instrument.He started his professional career with the founding of prime salsa group « Son Caribe » in Brazil, consisting of musicians from Cuba, Panama and Venezuela.In 1982 he took the musical direction of the « Asdrúbal Trouxe o Trombone » theatre com-pany of Rio de Janeiro for the production of « A Farra da Terra » as well as being the saxo-phonist and arranger.In 1984, he played with Mick Jagger in the video she’s the boss in Rio de Janeiro and during the same year, he became the musical director, arranger and composer of the famous brazilian singer Elza Soares. The show was awarded by Veja magazine for best concert of the year 1985. He has played or arranged for other artists like Caetano Veloso, Zézé Mota, Cazuza and César Camargo Mariano.Since his arrival in Paris, in 1989, he has played with, amongst others, Eddy Louiss, Isaac Hayes, Zucchero, Ghetto Blaster and Salif Keita. In 1995 he performed and arranged Salif Keita’s album Folon and the last Tonton David’s (french reggae artist) album Recidiviste.The group OMBÚ, a sextet of the modern argentinean music, called on his collaboration du-ring 8 years, as well as HOPEN COLLECTIVE where he composed and played in a very fun-ky universe. In june 1996 Robert Thomas Jr (percussion player of the mitic jazz/rock group Wheather Report) invited him to play on his group.From 1997 to 2000, Glaucus Linx worked basiclly in own productions as KLASSIK REMIX BY DR FLINX, bringing classic music into different environments such as Jungle, R&B and Bossa Nova and PROJETO RAY-O-VAC that takes Brazilian Music into new habitats with a complete new generation of Brazilian singers.Since his « come-back » to Brazil in 2001, Glaucus Linx played and recorded with several artists, like Nelson Sargento, D. Ivone Lara, Claudio Zóli, Banda Black Rio and Fábio Fonse-ca Trio. He has also produced, arranged and played the CABEÇA DE NÊGO’s album
Mais um Arquivo, has composed a new project called « Kind of Samba », where he rescue the 60’s atmosphere revisiting the Bossa Nova, the Sambalanço and the Samba-Jazz.In 2005 he records, in partnership with Antoine Olivier, producer and soundtracks composer based in London, the Album « Real Brazil » for Boosey & Hawkes Publishing ; the CD brings the top of the Carioca(from Rio de Janeiro) musiciens like Elcio Cáfaro (drums), José Luis Maia (Bass), Fernando Moraes (piano), Joviniano Jovi e Jacaré (percussions), João Carlos Coutinho (acordeon), a dupla fantástica Silvério e Zé da Velha, Carlinhos 7 cordas, Hulk (ca-vaquinho) Gabriel Improta e Daniel Santiago (acoustic guitars), Andrea Dutra (singer), Ro-naldo Barcellos (singer), Clóvis Pê da Mangueira and the great Mariana de Moraes (VinÃ-cius’s grand-daugher) singing « Como vou fazer », the album’s hit that is completely acoustic and brings the very ambience of the 60/70’s.In 2006, Glaucus Linx has been included, with Antoine Olivier, as the Duo « Dois Irmãos » in the Putumayos’s « Brazilian Lounge » Collection (World Music Label) by the song « Como vou fazer », sang by Mariana de Moraes and remixed by Antoine.His very last project is « Ancestrais Futuros » (Futur Ancestors) where he plays with Big Charles (drummer and composer) the voices of the spirits ; this album speaks about the very inner feelings of the human being an has no compromises with market. Only the conversa-tions with the space, God and his messengers, through the Fondamental Cosmic Energy and the Music.
