About Me

I am a Dutch painter of Magic Realism. Since 4 years living on the South coast of Turkey, Antalya with my 12 year old son Josh and the dogs Jessie and Yucca(former Turkish streetdogs) and the Dutch Holy Birman cat Lotje. MAGIC REALISM is a style of painting that is very realistic and detailed but with a "magical" atmosphere as you can see in the slide show. You also can see my work at WWW.FROHWEIN.NL, my gallery WWW.BEELDKRACHT.COM and WWW.LONDONART.CO.UK or look at "pics". Feel free to tell me what you think of them, looking forward to your comments.Joop Frohwein The Hague 1952From a young age Joop Frohwein showed clearly a desire for self expression. Unfortunately because the was raised in a family where business, not art, was encouraged he was not able to fulfill his desire until the late eighties. From The Hague, his home town, he moved to a more tranquil area, of the country and beaches in the South Netherlands. Away from family obligations he was able to find an inner peace and started to paint. This marked the beginning of his passionate career as an artist. As time passed he felt a desire to explore the more romantic side of life and four years ago moved from the Dutch seaside to the sunny Turkish coastal region. Here he still lives and works and enjoys the quiet and tranquil Mediterranean landscape and lifestyle.Knowing the journey his life has taken the paintings of Joop Frohwein take on more meaning. The struggle of his youth and the drive to find a peaceful and tranquil lifestyle gave birth to the serene and harmonious images found in his paintings. He is able to transform his own life experiences into a positive, magic realistic atmosphere, and shows us a way to find the quiet in our busy and hectic modern life. He explores many facets of life, mostly in the female form, and places her in soothing but structured settings. Some of his images float and the dreamy cloud scenes become the backdrop for the figures that personify the peace and tranquility he conveys.Who wouldn’t want to add such a scene to their home to sit and contemplate or just to admire and dream..........Sander Kletter Beeldkracht gallery....... You scored as XIX: The Sun, This is the happiest card in the deck. It is full of joy and optimism, everything is right with the world. We are as innocent children playing in the fields without care. The Sun brings success, well-being and happiness in all spheres - material, emotional, spiritual -wherever our desires lay. When this card appears in a Tarot spread it indicates success, joy and happiness. Obstacles will be overcome, goals achieved. When badly aspected, it can indicate a stagnation through over-indulgence, too much of a good thing.
