The Manic Medics

About Me

"Turning the Blues upside down and giving it a damn good spanking!".
Dr Blue need no introduction to most Yorkshire music fans as being one of the top Blues outfits on the circuit. The band deliver a scorching set, using dynamics, light and shade to breathe a breath of fresh air into a wide range of material, while their famous cryptic humour between songs gives a surreal feeling of being on the set of Reeves and Mortimer...
The band play at all sizes of venue, from pubs to major Festivals such as The Great British R&B Festival, Colne, the largest Blues Festival in the UK, putting their own unique stamp on a wide range of styles and performing songs in the vein of Coco Montoya, Albert Collins, John Mayall, Hendrix, Johnny Winter, JJ Cale etc plus original material.
A few quotes: "Those who think Blues is a collection of plodding, one key 12 bar dirges should pay a visit to Dr Blue. This powerhouse, take-no-prisoners three/four piece outfit have injected some much needed dynamics, humour, variety and sheer exuberance into the Blues. Add to that their famous sardonic repartee, and abilty to shoot off in any musical direction, from Jazz to Reggae at the drop of a note, a Dr Blue gig is anything but predictable, with the audience barely recovering from laughing between numbers before they are hit between the eyes by another superbly played song "
"I was dying to go to the toilet but I daren`t go in case I missed anything!"
"Absolutely bloody excellent!! If you ever get the chance go see this band. If you like real Blues, Jazz, Jimmy, Robert Johnson...GO SEE EM"
(KMM Promotions)
The name dropping bit..
Collectively and/or individually, the band members have sessioned on The BBC`s Paul Jones R&B Show and supported top names of the calibre of SLADE, WALTER TROUT, THE BLUES BAND, JOHHNY MARS, PAUL LAMB & THE KINGSNAKES, THE CLIMAX BLUES BAND, OTIS GRAND, MICK PINI, JOE LOUIS WALKER, GEORGIE FAME, CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE and LOUISIANA RED, CARVIN JONES and have been joined onstage during Festival performances by LARRY GARNER and CARY & LURRIE BELL. Oh, yes..and DARIUS. Did we mention DARIUS? (Yes, OK we know!)
