I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Glad you dropped by. If you’re interested in a little information about me and my writing journey, here you go.My first and only marriage is still going strong after 25 years. We have four kids who’ve pretty much flown the coop.By day I masquerade as housing manager for a low-income senior apartment complex. By night I throw off my mask of conformity and turn into a wild and crazy writer who can hardly wait to jot down all the cool things my characters are telling me, so I can share them with my readers.Did I say I hear voices? Alas, I've been like this most of my life. At least since sixth grade, when I penned—er, penciled—my first mystery novel. No trace of that youthful manuscript exists today, and the world is grateful. My writer’s journey has taken me in many different directions. I’ve worn the hats of journalist, columnist, essayist, poet, story teller and book reviewer. My current chapeau is the one I’ve coveted all along—novelist. My Guide and Mentor in all my travels is my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory!I love to give stuff away, so I've got an on-going monthly contest on my web site. http://www.jillelizabethnelson.com.Since you've read this far, you may as well watch a video trailer of my March release, Reluctant Runaway.

My Interests

I enjoy reading, writing, camping, outdoor cooking, walking, and did I say reading and writing? I also love to travel, especially mission trips. Here's a video made from pictures of our Thailand trip in 2006.

I'd like to meet:

Francine Rivers, a writer I admire very much

Music:

My favorite song on the planet is Michael W. Smith's "Secret Ambition." When I'm creating, I'm particularly fond of Maire Brennan's album "Whisper to the Wild Water." The Celtic cadences seem to inspire my soul. A new discovery is Misty Edward's prophetic worship--exciting, challenging!

Movies:

The Shawshank Redemption, Dante's Peak, Quigley Down Under (Tom Selleck and Laura San Giacomo are fabulous together!), The Fugitive (such an excellently plotted movie), It's a Wonderful Life (an annual must-see at Christmas time), The Frisco Kid (This is a really old flick with a very young Harrison Ford and Gene Wilder. An absolute hoot!), Secondhand Lions, The Man from Snowy River, Holes, The Mighty, Angus, Armaggedon, Die Hard, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Monsters Inc.--Hmmm! Methinks my tastes are a bit eclectic.

Television:

Colombo reruns, NUMB3RS, CSI (New York and the original--not so much Miami), The Believer's Voice of Victory.

Books:

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis, Color the Sidewalk for Me by Brandilyn Collins, Bad Ground by W. Dale Cramer, Wrapped in Rain by Charles Martin, Murder, Mayhem, and a Fine Man by Claudia Mair Burney, mysteries by Dick Francis, The Restorer by Sharon Hinck
