I'm a big-time reader. I love the outdoors. I like playing a good game of jaw-smashing basketball. I'm an avid chess player. Most of all, I love to go on dates with my wife because we truly love, understand, and accept one another.
If I could go back in time, I'd sit in at the Oxford pub where C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and other luminaries smoked pipes, drank ale, and discussed literature. I'd be a fly on the wall. I'd soak it all in, smiling at their brilliance and belligerence...Myspace Contact Tables
Most of the time, I'm listening to alternative and hard rock, everything from Audioslave, Flyleaf, Muse, Demon Hunter, and Evanescence, to As Cities Burn, Radiohead, Coldplay, As I Lay Dying, Switchfoot, and Underoath. My all-time favorite, for lyrics and longevity, is U2.
My tastes range from The Shawshank Redemption, Match Point, Life is Beautiful, Se7en, and Crash, to Liar Liar, Fight Club, Unbreakable, Serendipity, Pieces of April, and Lord of the Rings. Netflix is my friend.
I rarely watch TV, but when I do it's sports (go Titans!), the mind-over-matter elements of Fear Factor, and the insane stupidity of Max X. Yeah, I'm pathetic.
I grew up reading C.S. Lewis, then Robert Ludlum and Alistair MacLean, John LeCarre, Graham Greene, Harper Lee, and Morris West. Nowadays, I read Daniel Silva, Dean Koontz, Harlan Coben, Ted Dekker, Melanie Wells, Chris Well, Brandt Dodson, Kathryn Mackel, James Lee Burke, and numerous others. Anne Lamott and Donald Miller hit the bull's-eye for me on the non-fiction end.
I've never been enamored with celebrity-types. My heroes mostly consist of those who labor for years with little reward, the behind-the-scenes types. I definitely admire David from the Bible, the way he was so freakin' honest with God.
