rtorius was brought to life in early 2007, co-founded by Christopher Westby and David Franklin and named after the great Celtic myth & legend that is King Arthur. The two had been collaborating since 2005 in an attempt to create an epic and melodic metal band, drawing mutiple influences from bands such as Rhapsody, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Equilibrium, Turisas and Early Children Of Bodom e.t.c. while also incorporating their own distinctive style of song writing.
We Artorius aim to add fresh and exciting new sounds to the English underground Metal scene, combining elements from Power/Folk/Melodic Death & Black Metal, while also incorporating classically influenced guitar riffs and catchy 'battle' and folk power metal melodies. We dont necessarily sound like all or any of our influences as we play our own individual 'brand' of metal, however they may give a good indication to our sound and to what we are all about. Lyrically and thematically we are heavily inspired by space, time & the cosmos, alternative history, supernatural phenomenom, dreams, ancient civilsation, culture & custom, prophecy & wisdom as well as northern european medieval history and heritage.
We are currently practicing and finishing writing off songs in preperation for our demo and gigs. Expect us to have some photographics and a few recordings (or atleast taster/sample's) up in a few weeks, so watch out and check the blog for updates.
Expect to see Artorius in 2008.
