About Me

Lenart Krecic born in 1982 in Ljubljana, Slovenia started playing piano at age 7. He switched to saxophone at age 14, when he went to high school. After two years he was enrolled at the Music High School (received high honors in Jazz) and graduated in 2002. During studying at the Music High School he started performing with European musicians in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Italy.
During 2002 Jazzinty Summer Music Workshop in Novo Mesto, Slovenia Reggie Workman suggested that he continues his studies at New York’s prominent The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, where he started his studies in the fall of 2003. He studied with Billy Harper, Reggie Workman, Buster Williams, Junior Mance, Jane Ira Bloom, Charles Tolliver, Ahmed Abdoulah, Andrew Cyrille, Joe Chambers, George Garzone, Bobby Sanabria, to name a few. Durinng his studies appeared with Reggie Workman, Jason Hwang, Chico Freeman, Wynard Harper, Junior Mance, Awery Sharp, Benny Powell, Joe Chambers, Billy Harper, Cecil Bridgewater, Gerry Hemingway, Yayoi Ikawa, Keyon Harrold, Matthew Garrison, Keith Carlock, David Gilmore, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Candido, Sonny Fortune, E.J. Strickland, Kevin Jones, Francis Mbappe, Tyshawn Sorey, Jamire Williams, Diane Moser, Howard Johnson, and Boris Kozlov throughout Tri State Area. He recently became a permanent band member of Francis Mbapper’s FM Tribe and Kevin Jones’ Tenth World. He was also recording with Reggie Workman, Gerry Hemingway, Bobby Sanabria, Jamire Williams, Adam Jackson to name a few. He graduated with Academic Honors in May 2007 and was accepted to the Masters program of Jazz Studies at New York University, where he started studying with Chris Potter, Don Friedman, John Scofield, Tony Moreno, Jim McNeely, and Jean-Michel Pilc in the fall of 2007.
