RALPH NADER FOR PRESIDENT
IN 2008!

Ralph has announced that he's going to run for the presidency in 2008. Given the pathetic state of the race, I couldn't be happier to hear it.
He's a staunch progressive who has consistently called for an end to the war in Iraq, for universal single-payer health care, to a repeal of attacks on civil liberties like rendition flights, the PATRIOT Act and warrantless domestic spying and he's got a record to back it up.
Given the spectre of a hawkish Hillary Clinton nomination or the empty rhetoric of Barack Obama, it's about time that progressives had a real candidate willing to stand up for them.
"You want healthcare for all? Who says no? It’s the health insurance industry, the drug companies and the HMOs.
You want living wage? Who says no, and makes it stick? It’s McDonald’s. It’s Burger King. It’s Wal-Mart.
You want peace in the world, and you want a country to wage peace and become a humanitarian superpower? Who’s opposed to that? The Lockheed-Martins. What Eisenhower condemned as a military-industrial complex.
Just ask: Who keeps saying no? And you know what the focus of a Green Party and an alternative party political movement has to be."

Please check out his current Campaign Website , volunteer and give him a few bucks . Democracy will thank you.
Ralph gives 'em hell and sets the record straight on the Democratic Party and the spoiler myth.

Geek Stuff

As mentioned above, I'm a giant geek. I currently moderate the Hulk Forum at Comic Book Resources .

My Interests

I'm a geek for Sci-Fi/Fantasy, cartoons and comic books. Favorites include the new Battlestar Galactica show, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and the original Planet of the Apes flicks (not that terrible remake with Marky Mark in it).

I collect Incredible Hulk merchandise, including a roll of Hulk toilet paper from the 70s that I got from an ex. I like swap meet art, George A. Romero's zombie flicks and post apocalyptic Charlton Heston movies where he screams alot.

If you want to buy me stuff:

My general godlessness

I've been an Atheist since I was about 15 years old. Religion and belief in a deity has never rung true with me and I don't think it's rational to believe in something in the absense of evidence. But to each, his own.

And my favorite Atheist and world-renowned evolutionary biologist would have to be Professor Richard Dawkins. Here's a two part interview with one of my personal heroes:

(part two)

Sam Harris, the author of "The End of Faith" Gives a Lengthy and Substantive Speech on the Dangers of Religious Belief and Irrationality

Movies:

The Big Lebowski, George A. Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" series, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the original "Planet of the Apes" films, Chuck Heston post-apocalyptic movies from the 1970s

Television:

Right now, I'm enjoying Lost, the new Battlestar Galactica, Jericho, Doctor Who, the American version of The Office, HBO's Rome and reruns of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Arrested Development and Red Dwarf. Most everything else is crap.

Books:

Fiction-wise, I recently finished Watership Down and loved it to death. Excellent book. I also love stuff by George Orwell, Ken Kesey's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and Goldings' "Lord of the Flies", George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire", J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings". Non-fiction, I'll read anything by Chomsky, Hunter S. Thompson and anything on the 1912 election.

Currently reading James Randi's classic expose on pseudoscience and scams in "Flim Flam!" and the current issue of "the Skeptical Inquirer".
