Jersey City born Trumpet player Carlos Abadie has been on the New York scene for ten years. He got his first start in the city playing every Monday night at Smalls with Jason Linder’s big band, along side such greats as Mark Turner, Myron Walden and of course Jason Linder and Omer Avital. Though this was an invaluable learning experience, Mr. Abadie’s dream had always been to play with the masters of this music, and he finally got his opportunity in July of 2001 when he performed with legendary drummer Ben Dixon. In the summer of 2002 Mr. Abadie joined Illinois Jaquet and played the Tim Festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 31, 2002. “This was one of my proudest moments, to know that I played in Mr. Jaquet's band was an honor, and I learned so much about music and myselfâ€. Though Mr. Abadie is a bigger fan of music than the spotlight, it has not kept him from establishing other invaluable musical experiences and ties. He has also appeared with such greats as Ira Sullivan, Junior Mance, Ray Santos and Arturo Sandoval to name a few. Abadie is a musician who is constantly striving for the perfect solo and though he is a professional, considers himself to always be a student of Jazz music. “I‘m searching for the sounds that our musical forefathers left behind, it’s what I identify with, and it is what soothes my soul and brings me peace. I love all of the jazz masters and I am in debt to their legacyâ€.
