Mockingbird Book Shop

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

First of all, this is NOT Mockingbird Book Shop's web site. For those of you who have stumbled upon this profile looking for our official website, please go to www.mockingbirdbookshop.com.au now. If you'd rather stick around and have a look here, that's fine. Just keep in mind that this is a very silly MySpace profile created by Evelyn for Mockingbird Book Shop.Unfortunately, Evelyn is returning to the US with her family in July 2008. Not that Evelyn doesn't want to go back home to family and friends, but she loves living in Australia and has thoroughly enjoyed owning and running her own bookshop. It has been a dream come true. Thanks to all of you who have supported this special little bookshop!

My Interests

Mockingbird Book Shop's primary goal was to promote a lifelong love of reading. We wanted a friendly, non-intimidating environment where locals could come in and look at great books, talk about books or just drop in for a chat and a coffee. When it existed in Mont Albert Village between 2006 and 2008, the shop contained a small, but carefully selected range of quality literature for adults and children. The staff, including James, Carole and Chris, were skilled at helping customers select just the right book. We were also known for tracking down difficult to locate and out of print books. We hosted many terrific book signing events with Melbourne authors and participated in all of Mont Albert Village's community activities. Even though we were a small bookshop, we supported local schools by making donations. Mockingbird Book Shop also did fund raising work for The Learning for Life Autism Centre (www.learningforlife.com.au) and People for Fair Trade (www.fairtrade.asn.au).

I'd like to meet:
