Travis is resident DJ for club nights Audio Chic, Tickled Pink(London) and also his own night, Technisis Experimental, along with Chris "Stonefish" Summers
His birth place was East London but he now resides on the Essex coast. He has been clubbing all over the world for 17yrs
Travis' musical path was spurred through his mother who was deeply into soul music. At the ripe old age of 6, he would raid her Motown collection at any given opportunity. When his pals were listening to the likes of Madonna, Bros and Kylie Minogue, he was tucked away in his room listening to original Motown, Phillidelphia, Stevie Wonder, Sam & Dave, James Brown & Earth, Wind & Fire etc
The first original new music that really caught his ears was Electro Hip Hop in 1984. He grew up buying export vinyl of Electro-Be Bop, Rap & Hip Hop from Soul Man Records in Southend on Sea. He would listen to the GLR (Greater London Radio) Rap show on a Friday evening presented by Dave Pierce and attempt to put together his own mixtapes, as good as you could with a ghetto blaster, memorex tape cassette and a pause button. He started with the originators Grand Master Flash, Sugar Hill Gang, Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, BDP Productions, Skooly D etc etc
The Brits then found a niche for themselves in around 1987 and Travis found himself slipping into an Underground British Hip Hop scene that he still states was more influential on the british dance scene than alot of people give it credit for.In 1988 he brought his first set of Sony belt drive turntables and acts such as Hijack, Demon Boys, Cash Crew, MC Mello, Caveman, London Posse & Blade emerged as a Hardcore scene that was like no other. This british hip hop scene had real attitude and an identity of its own.
The art of Breakbeat was formed and all of a sudden a blend of British Hip Hop & Dance started to take place. The Rave scene blew up the the UK in around 1988 and there was a big link between the breaks of British Hip Hop and the drum patterns of Acid House. With influences such as Carl Cox, Sasha & Paul Oakenfold
By 1990, Travis was a fully fledged raver and began a long journey touring the UK and the rest of the world listening to rave/hardcore house music. The hardcore drum & bass/jungle scene was born in 1992 and took over his life for nearly 5 years. Drum & Bass is a genre founded by the Brits and nurtured until it was thought fit to unleash on the rest of the world all of which is what has brought him where he is today.
In 1996 he found himself being drawn back to House Music once again. The quality production by the likes of MAW, Miguel Migs, Anything on the Naked Music label, DJ Disciple, Giles Peterson, Laurent Garnier etc etc, really opened his ears to just how good House music can be made nowadays.
Influential House was founded in 1998 by Travis' very good friend and mutual music conniseur Scott Harrington.
Influential started as an online dance music magazine where Travis would supply club reviews & support to the crew on a regular basis. Over the years, Influential House took the natural progression into releasing their own productions. In 2006 Travis was asked to take the A&R responsibilties on for the label, of which he was extremley honoured and could hardly refuse. Now in 2008, he is label owner of Technisis and looking forward to help progress the label in a differant direction....EXPERIMENTAL.
His favourite places to play have been too many to mention over the years but Sin in Charing Cross Rd, London, The Crobar in New York & the New Years Eve Full Moon Party in Koh Pang Yang in Thailand all ROCKED!!!.
He still listens to a very wide range of music from Soul, Funk, R&B, Disco, Jazz, D&B and lots more. There is far too much good music out there to be blinkered into just one genre.
Travis' love for music of all sorts is intense and passionate and is something he could not live without. The fact he now works within the industry is a dream come true so heres to future......his life in music..
