About Me
Guido Russo was born in Naples in 1960. Bass player,composer,musician for street urchins(he had composed a band with some of them)- He has played with jazz musician to a national and international level.
in 2001-2002 he was on tour with Marco Zurzolo and thei took part togheter to festival of international level :Montreal jazz festivalNocera jazz (where he performed with Art ensemle of Chicago and Antonello Salis) Pomigliano jazz, Sorrento fest with Billie Preston, Atene jazz festival Bari "notte di stelle",and so on. He has also played with Pino Iodice,Pietro Iodice,Daniele Sepe,
Salvatore Tranchini,Alberto D'anna,Aldo Farias,Giovanni Amato - he has Recorded two tracks with Scott Henderson,the great guitar player , on the last album of guitarist mimmo langella "funk that jazz".
He has also colaborated whithin pop-music artist, with "Alma Megretta" ,Sal Da Vinci,the world music band "Darmadar,with which he has recorded two discs for "CNI". In 2002 he played in Duomo square in Milan in a concert with
Jenni B,,Antonella Ruggiero,Ami stewart,.
In january 2006 ,he played in the orchestra,conducted by Renato Serio "in the concert of Epiphani" at" Citta' della scienza" (Naples),Accompaning many artist, such as D.D. Bridgewater, Cheb Kaled,Tony Hadley, Eduardo Bennato,Enrico Ruggeri.
In summer 2006 he was on tour with Nino Buonocore. In 2005 on December,he produced his first album as soloist. The title is " Music for images" and very important musician from Naples have collaborated to this disc. In particular the ex-vocalist of Alma Megretta Patrizia Di Fiore, co-author of their album "Sciuoglie e cane",and Marcello Coleman,who sang in the "orchestra italiana,conducted by Renzo Arbore.
At present he collaborates with the Funky-jazz band of the guitarist Mimmo Langella,with the reggae-pop singer Marcello Coleman and the Tunisian percussionist and singer Marzouk Mejri.
