So who’s that guy Uwe Jarling doing all that wired paintings?
Well, I was born in 1968, yes the time while people wanted to make love not war, the time Woodstock was not far, sadly as one year old I couldn’t be there. However, I had a pretty normal childhood, loving parents, went to school, learned one million things I never needed in my later life and all the things everybody else went through. With one exception, as long as I remember I drew and painted, really the first things I remember is me smearing walls and everything I could get my hands on. Sadly this didn’t stop during my school time, I smeared in almost every school book I had, I remember my teachers didn’t find that as funny as I did, same for my parents as they had to pay for the books, most of them belonged to school inventar.
However, to make a long sentence short, it was very soon pretty clear to me that I had to do something creative, which leads in graduating with a diploma degree in graphic design 1991.
Since that time I worked as an freelance illustrator and graphic designer further on. My first works were countless covers for videos, books, ... and many technical and architectural illustrations for advertising agencies.
An important step in my further development followed in 2000 where I started to develop my "Fantasy Artwork" more seriously and did my first attempts creating my art on a computer. This wouldn’t have been possible to me without taking a day-job paying the bills and giving me the freedom to learn and experiment as much as I could with digital painting in my free time. As wired as it may sound but that day job as a graphic designer really gave me more time to learn new things in my free time than I ever had before while working as full time freelancer.
In 2003 I started to take commissions in the fantasy field and made my experiences in the business. Since than almost all of my work is painted digitally for clients all over the world mainly in the Fantasy-art genre, still as a part time business but I’m looking forward to jump into full time freelancing again. But having now a family this decision has to be well considered, and it is not as easy as I was a 20 years old. Well you know, I sure love to be an artist but I would hate to be an starving artist, haha.
Btw. I live and work in a little village in the south of Germany.

Think you now have the idea, in general, of who I am, now lets have a look at the work I do, pictures speak more than thousand words!
Think you got the idea of what kind of art I do. No it is not the kind of art you see in museums or in galleries, it’s the kind of art you see every day in stores, you know a book cover here, a DVD cover there or the Illustrations you can see on those collectible card games the young folks play all day.
You never thought about it, but hey, each piece of art you see there was created by someone. Well, I’m one of those guys doing stuff like that. And know what I enjoy it enormously, this is just my tiny take to make this world a little more colorful place.
Besides the illustration commissions, where I usually have to follow an art description given by the client, I do more and more free paintings mainly in the fantasy genre as this is what I really love to do. Most of my free work is used for book covers as well, but the process is more satisfying to me as I just paint what I want without following any given art description.
Last but not least I finally made it up to the species of the so called “awarded artists”, means I received some on- and/or offline awards for my work and I got featured in several “best of art books”. I even got featured in the 2006-2007 Prestige Who’s Who of outstanding professionals (what ever that means).
Here’s a little collection of my favorite work that got featured in the one or other best of publication, or got awarded somehow.
