Kayla Reeves

Kayla Reeves is a 15-year-old box of dynamite from Dallas who doesn't just sing, but attacks the blues like she has been singing all her life. Come to mention it, she has!
Kayla starting performing live Blues at the age of 7 years with local blues band "The Rail Chasers". After honing her vocal skills and stage presence she moved on to form a new band, "Kayla Reeves and Triple Threat". This highly energetic band proved to be a highlight for several festivals and clubs in Texas. November 2006 saw Kayla turn 14 years old, and now she's determined more than ever to be a major force in the Blues, as she has decided to pursue her career full-time.
Kayla has been featured in Blues Matters magazine with close friend Tyler Dow Bryant on more than one occasion in the UK, also Dallas Morning News, Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, Irving Neighbors, E-News, a featured artist on Texas Blues Café Pod Cast and has been "Performer Of The Day" on Austin's very own Fox 7 News "Good Morning Texas" live broadcast. Kayla has shared the stage with Blues Legends Pinetop Perkins,Johnny Winter,Joe Bonamassa,Roosevelt Twitty,Tyler Dow Bryant, Alan Haynes,Buddy Miles,Wes Jeans ,Lance Lopez,Blue Lisa,Cheryl Arena ,Andrea Dawson.
What does Kayla have to say about all this.... "I live my life for God, My family, and my MUSIC!! It makes me feel good."
Things will change in her life as she grows, but her love for the Blues will never change. "Sometimes when my day at school was bad, or I'm having a bad day or something, I come home and turn on some Etta James and just chill. I sing the Blues because it makes me feel good. Some people ask 'Why do you listen to the blues?' The Blues, in my opinion, is the best music going. The Blues is honest, real, its ups and downs of life, sadness, love, hate, you could say it's full of "emotions", something I feel is lacking in music today. It's hard to describe the feeling, but when I first heard the Blues something deep inside me just went off, like a bell ringing through my soul. Every time I perform I get that feeling all over again. I have never been the same since. I listen to all kinds of music but I dig the Blues the most."
Kayla has recently been selected by the Shagbark Blues Society to represent "Texas Blues" at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis 2007. Also, Kayla has been asked to perform at the 2007 Stevie Ray Vaughan Remembrance Ride & Concert in Dallas Texas, which is a dream come true for Kayla, as it will be an event that no one will want to miss!
