VOTE NATHAN TO WIN BIG BROTHER!!!!

About Me

Lorna Gee was born in Brixton Sth London with 7 brothers & sisters. She first started her career as a DJ on sound systems such as Coxsone, Nasty Rockers & Saxone. In the early eighties Lorna was hailed the No.1 female dj in England. Her first record ‘Three weeks gone' was released on the Ariwa label in 1981 it went on to become one of the most popular reggae tunes of its time, with comedic but truthful contents. Lorna became the voice of many young people who were going through economic and social oppression at the time. She continued to record on the Ariwa label throughout the 80’s, with hits like 'Don't go crazy' & 'Stop Chat' but it wasn’t until 1985 when she recorded ‘Gotta find a way’ that she got her first No1. 'Gotta find a way' was a melodic tune about Lorna’s hopes and aspirations, and it hit a chord with people all over the world becoming somewhat of a reggae anthem. It stayed at the top of the reggae charts for 6 weeks and earned Lorna the first of three awards. She received the BBC Radio London Reggae Awards for best female dj (Jamaican term for lyricist) in 1985 and went on to receive the same award in 1986. Lorna has had the pleasure of working with some of Britain’s biggest acts, including Madness, Boy George, Billy Bragg & Paul weller where she toured with Red Wedge in 1986. She also took part in The Artistes Against Apartheid at Clapham Common in 1988, where she appeared with Sade, Sting, Maxi Priest & Peter Gabriel. With hopes of expanding her career, Lorna moved to New York where she resided for six years. She recorded songs on The VP record Label including ‘Nice’ and ‘Lef Him’ and in 1992 she received the Tamika New York Reggae Awards for best female dj, with Shabba Ranks receiving best Male. After returning to London, Lorna decided to study her first love which was Acting. In September 2003, at the age of 40, Lorna graduated from The Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts, after 3 years of extensive training. She is now a Proffessional Actress.
