My mission as a deejay is to take you on a musical journey of the world, by letting you feel the melodies, groove to the beats and listen to the poetic lyrics of pure unadulterated retro music from the past, present and the future’.DJ Nubian Soul is one of the most creative deejays known on the deejay circuit. Nubian Soul’s love for eclectic music, making the crowd feel beautiful and taking listeners on musical journeys into the unknown has been her trademark for 12 years.DJ Nubian Soul’s love for music in terms of Afrobeat, Neo Soul, Nu Jazz, Broken Beats, Soul, Conscious Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Rare Grooves, R&B, Afrikan Fusion, Futuristic Soul, Soulful House, Deep House, Fuji, Reggae, Acid Jazz, and quirky pop stems from her parents very eclectic record collection when she was a child.My childhood was a fun and very exciting time in terms of my musical experience as I would be listening to a mixtures of four different cultures in our household, basically African, African Caribbean, British and American.’ She says. ‘One minute I would hear a song from Fela Kuti, then from Steve Wonder, then from Genesis, and then from Bob Marley literally one after each other, with me singing along to the tunes’.Since 1994 DJ Nubian Soul has deejayed up and down the country for a variety of events from student union gigs to national artistic events. From playing as the main resident DJ at the Leicester Jazz, Blues & World Music Festival (2001), deejaying at the Birmingham 'Drop Beats not Bombs' event (2007) to deejaying at the London Pride event (2008).DJ Nubian Soul has also produced, and presented radio show programmes for the likes of BBC Radio Merseyside on the ‘Upfront Show’ with KD Lite radio presenter (1995/1996). Crash FM with James Class radio presenter (Liverpool 1996), ELLE FM, the Expression Show, her own show (Liverpool 1996/1999) and New Style Radio ‘Neonation show’ with radio presenters E Double D and Paul (Birmingham 2004 - October 2006).DJ Nubian Soul is also known for being a club event and live music promoter, having organised a variety of club events within the last 10 years from Sugahill (Preston/Liverpool 1997-1998), Urban Griot (Liverpool 2000), Eclectik Lady (Birmingham 2003-2004), ORGANIC NUBIANS (Birmingham 2004 – present), All that Jazz, The Drum (Birmingham 2006 - present) and Soul Naturelle (Leicester/Birmingham/Wolverhampton/London 2002-present). DJ Nubian Soul continues to work at her craft as a deejay, radio programme producer, creative producer, artistic programmer, live music promoter, club promoter and theatre/spoken word director making sure that her audiences feel the music that she plays and travel with her on her musical journey to life.
