About Me

I am cursed for wanting to play music. I hear songs in my head all the time but...they are my songs. I gotta get rid of 'em so I record them. I also spent a lot of time trying to figure out where to put my fingers on one of them 6 stringed gee-tars. I never really wanted to go to all the trouble but life's funny that way. I am a married father of two who tries to strike a balance between home life and road life. "Settling down" doesn't seem to be an option for me because I still have a pretty BIG wild streak in my personality. Let's call it a flaw. Poor kids got a crazy f*&%#n' daddy!

My Interests

Other than music, I like old motorcycles, all makes and models, all countries of origin. Just two wheeled mechanized things including bicycles I guess. Good coffee, good beer, good food, good friends and good times. Traveling. I love to travel. I love BAGPIPES! Bluegrass festivals. Fly-fishing and Camping in a tent. Sport: Rugby Football, Soccer Football, Gaelic Football and Australian Football. American Football is lame...except the Pittsburgh Steelers of course.

I'd like to meet:

Johnny Cash - died Jack Palance-died Robert Mitchum-died Faron Young-died Joe Strummer-died...damn...I must be killin' these guys off!OK...how's about Les Paul? Dare I say that? Maybe...the Cohen Brothers. Dolly Parton or Loretta Lynn would be nice.

Music:

Old Country and Western, Honkytonk, Rockabilly, Bluegrass, Gospel, Blues, Jazz, Western Swing, Doo Wop, Rhythm and Blues, Hillbilly and Race music, Crooners, American and Irish Folk Music and early Punk and Hardcore...Pretty much if it has an upright bass in it I love it and if it doesn't I may or may not like it. I play guitar and my heroes are many. Lately I am all about Telecasters.

Movies:

These are movies I will watch all the way through EVERY time they come on the tele: Night of the Hunter, Thunderroad, To Have and Have Not, The Champion, The Quiet Man, Raising Arizona, 3 O'Clock High, O' Brother Where Art Thou, Panic In the Streets, Roadhouse (the OLD one not that Patrick Swayzee piece of crap!), The Sundowners, Grapes of Wrath (the book and the film), Forrest Gump, King Creole, His Kind of Woman, The Wild One, Rude Boy, Coalminer's Daughter, How Green Was My Valley, Concrete Jungle, The Girl Can't Help It, The Misfits, Red River, From Here To Eternity, Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail, Double Indemnity, Blood on the Moon, "M", Shawshank Redemption, Jailhouse Rock. That's all I can think of now.

Television:

The Porter Wagoner show...Uh...RFDTV folks. Andy Griffith (I love Don Knotts!) the Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, Batman, Dr. Who (with Don Baker). What ELSE DO YOU NEED? Nothing I contend.

Books:

This is a tough one. Angela's Ashes, Grapes of Wrath, Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy, way too many Biographies on country stars and political figures to mention in this blurb because real life is stranger than fiction, Moby Dick....really, Tattooed on their tongues-Colin Escott. Just finished "I, Fatty" and "Devil and the White City" and "American short stories" and...and...something I forgot. Nick Toches' books.

Heroes:

Ray Price, Faron Young, Johnny Cash, Scotty Moore, Grady Martin, Buck Owens and Don Rich, George Jones, Charlie and Ira Loudermilk, Joe Strummer, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Webb Pierce, Wynn Stewart, Shane McGowan, Robert Mitchum, Oscar Moore, Billy Byrd, Johnnie Ray, Hank Garland, Buck Trent, Joe Maphis, Roy Nichols, Duane Eddy, Charlie Christian, Del McCoury, Lightnin' Hopkins, Tom Waites, Harlan Howard, Henry Mancini, Les Paul, Don Helms, James Hunter, Merle Travis, Jimmy Bryant, Danny Cedrone, Ennio Morricone, Zeb and Zeke Turner and DOLLY PARTON.
