Boudica's Ball was a huge celebration of some of the most talented and successful women in the Scottish pop scene, playing on stage together for the first time. The brainchild of Colette McKendrick and Alicorn Records, Boudica's ball aimed to raise the profile of women in the Scottish music scene, who often feel very frustrated by its lack of committment to female artists. Colette was inspired by the North American festival “Lilith Fair†which was started by singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan in 1997 and borne out of her similar frustrations in Canada. We can now tell you, it was a MASSIVE success!!!!We sold all our tickets, Oran Mor was absolutely heaving and we rasied, not only the profile of women in music, but also over a grand for Nordoff Robbins.I nearly gave myself a bloody heart attack trying to organise it, but thank God it paid off.My thanks goes to BDS the poster designer, all my happy helpers on the night (Fest, Alan, Ryan, Kirsten, Elizabeth, Stacey, Lorraine, Gyl and Katie) all the amazing artists, all of you for coming and showing your support, and to the various press and radio (especially Radio 6 international and XFM) for their support.See you next year - this time it will be a festival over 2 days!!!!
