Pimp MySpace
This myspace is a tribute to
Pigmeat Pete Smith, a fantastic Blues Guitarist and singer songwriter who sadly died of cancer several years ago. There is currently a dearth of knowledge on my part as to the actual date of his demise, the whereabouts of his family and where to locate more of his many LPS.
Me (Jules Landau) and a few of his other friends who knew him will be trying to keep this site alive in his memory, anyone who can fill in the blanks mentioned above please send us messages or add to the blog to help us celebrate the life of this great individual. He does not deserve to go unsung.
I know he had a rhythm n blues band with Simon from the Cosmic Sausages called
The Jivin' Instructors who split after he died, and another called
The Blue Rhythm Methodists, as well as playing solo and with a blues harp player called Catjuice Charlie. Simon sent me the Jazz Woodbine CD from which the myspace songs are taken.
Pete was a lovely gentle guy with a real natural feeling and great technical ability, a brilliant live performer with a good sense of humour and very helpful to me as a teen when I would catch him busking in Covent Garden always ready and open with advice on playing and performing.
I used to own three tapes of Pigmeat, all sadly lost along the way, so anyone out there who can furnish us fans with more of his material, photos or biog material please get in touch!
