FUNK MVP'S

It's a way to groove the music, to be funky, to Be

About Me

This band is one in a long line of many bands that Thomas Hutchings has formed in New York City with his musical friends & cohorts to find the answer to the ultimate musical question,"How can I be funky?".
Musicians are always mentioning to Thomas that they have more fun when they are playing for themselves and their friends in any situation and it seemed that it was a good idea to take that kind of inspiration to the stage and show audiences what musicians do when they are just having fun playing around with recognizable songs and melodies that they've performed thousands of times in any number of situations. This leads to some very nice, straight up jammin' with some of the finest NY instrumental and vocal musicians from all walks of life that the city has to offer.
We de-arrange and rearrange contemporary and old school funk & R&B songs like a live mash-up; only fresher because it happens right in front of your eyes. Funk MVP's at Bitter End

Let us help you rejuvenate your soul and spirit because that's the way we feel after a performance and we want to share that with you. You'll know if you need it by the sweat on your brow and the movement of your feet.

Funk is an African American musical style. It originated in the 1960s with performers such as James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, and The Meters, and emerged as a distinct genre by the 1970s. Funk music is characterized by intensely syncopated, danceable rhythms with the emphasis falling heavily on the first beat of every measure; prominent basslines; a distinctive, razor-sharp type of rhythm guitar; chanted or hollered vocals in the style of soul music; powerful, rhythm-oriented horn sections; a strong emphasis on percussion, often including hand drums and other instruments as well as a drum kit; and African and jazz influences. Funk can be arguably said to greatly influence modern styles of music such as punk rock and hip-hop.
