Meka Nism and her Rusty Tears

Now in Kyoto, Japan!!!

About Me

Armed with just a guitar and her own highly unique stage persona, Ms. Meka Nism is consistently chilling audiences with the power and beauty of her voice. Her range varies from being eerily child like, to booming loud and monstrous, surrounding her audience from all sides with gorgeous magnificence. Her solo acoustic songs hold up to the intensity of the death metal and punk bands that she typically plays with, having shared the stage with such bands as: Trivium, Chimaira, Dead Gospel, Bile, O.F. Beatdown, Faun Fables, Pain Principle, Indorphine, Ambiotica, Nocturne, Endo, and 5 Billion Dead. Her presence demands the attention of all who look upon her as she weaves the elegant poetry of the macabre into the dreamscapes of the stage. The former guitar player of Orlando punk legends Dirty Barby and front person for Angel Autopsy, Meka has enchanted audiences for years. Angel Autopsy and other Operations, her debut album, has been selling steadily since 2005 at her shows, on mini tours, in CD shops around the state of Florida, like Park Ave. CDs, Steve's Downtown Music, Rock n' Roll Heaven, CD Warehouse and on Amazon.com Florida based Hidden Records quickly noticed her as being a unique talent and put her on their independent label. Meka Nism and her Rusty Tears’ album, Mad to Love, was recorded at the Hidden Records studio in 2006 and has been quickly recognized as a phenomenal artistic achievement of great beauty and passion. Break, the second track from the album, is the Winner of Songwriter's Showcase of America: Best Experimental Song of the Year 2006. The Meka Nism and her Rusty Tears project originated from the pioneering work of Meka and multi-instrumentalist Florizel Dennis. They have worked with many other amazing musicians throughout the project including; Brian Manowitz, Shannon Brady, Reed Tyack, Alvin Bauer, Dwight R. Johnson, Ryan, Miguel, Melinda, Troubled Children, Jimmy & Everet from Indorphine, just to name a few. After receiving her endorsement from Dean Guitars (www.deanguitars.com), she hooked up the extraordinary talent of Iman Photography who captured the demented Victorian vision of Meka with her stunning palomino with an expertise and splendor beyond belief. She is a featured model in the vintage pinup artwork of Iman (www.imanphotography.com) that has been displayed at The Orlando Museum of Art, The Bank of America, and in the publications such as; Orlando Style, Orlando Leisure, Maggie Mae, and The Orlando Sentinel. Active in the community, Meka directed as president of the V.A.G.I.N.A. (violence against girls is not acceptable) Fest Orlando 2006, a female oriented rock, art, film and benefit concert for the local abuse shelter, The Harbor House. She is working on her Rock Opera and other projects in association with the New York Theater Group, The Sturm und Drang Co. She takes great joy in being involved in and witnessing every production that she can with this amazing storm of talent. With explosive enthusiasm, Ms. Meka Nism has made a scorching impact on the Central Florida music scene. She has a strong, loyal fan base around the United States, in areas like San Diego, New York, Philadelphia and Atlanta. She is spending 2007 in Japan for further exploration and blazing adventure. Meka's charisma, twisted-sweet humor, and glowing, silly smile will continue to capture the hearts with horns everywhere with the force of her musical inferno.
